Subject: GH:Update for Monday, 3/18/96 From: Tahnda Bailey, tahnda@batgirl.water.ca.gov General Hospital Update for Monday, 3/18/96 by Tahnda Bailey This episode is dedicated to the memory of Damien Smith, RIP, who was DOA on 3/18/96 (sob, I've lost one of my FGCs). Todays show was anti-climatic to say the least. This update is to be read to the tune of "Burn baby Burn". Burn baby Burn, Ward house inferno.... As we resume today, we recap Friday's episode. Laura is singing a lullabye to the sick Ward House baby, while Lulu chortles in the playpen. Downstairs, a pre-toast Damien pours gasoline all over the place, as he turns to light the match, he sees *SOMEOME*!! Before he can gather his wits, he is hit over the head, and rendered dead (or unconscious, who knows?). The murder flees, leaving Damien on the floor surrounded by flames. Meanwhile, Luke returning from the pharmacy sees the flames, calls for help to Justus, who is coming from goodness only knows and they enter the building. Luke is looking for Laura and Lu, Justus finds Damien, post-toasting, and brings his body outside. The fire department arrives, a crowd gathers, and people begin lamenting the loss of Ward house. Bobbie and Tony arrive on the scene, and Justus mentions that her entire extended family is in the burning house. Bobbie has to be restrained (this was a particularly lame scene). As they watch the house burn, Lucky arrives and he too has to be restrained (a much better acting job by young Jonathan). Firemen are forced out by the smoke and flames with little hope for any survivors. As Lucky tries to come to grips with the possible death of his whole family (remembering that the last time they were all together they were *flaming* him for his mis-behavior), Luke stumbles out with the family in tow. Lucky runs to and is reunited with his family, with Luke saying, "I'd never do that to you". Keesha arrives and breaksdown as she realizes that her whole past has just gone up in flames. As she and Justus gaze at the inferno tears streaming down their faces, they mimic the stance of Mary Mae and her son (flashback of son holding MaryMae in his arms as they gaze out the window). Other filler stuff... Tom and Filly continue their arabian night fantasy. They smooch, they eat, they banter, they notice the flames, date is officially ended. Bobbie dreams......again. This time, tptb have added a porcelan doll. The doll is knocked over and the face cracks (the head may have fallen off too, but I forget). Bobbie is terrified, Tony is soothing. He opines that it may be that she hasn't come to grips with BJs death yet. Sonny visits Rivera and asks for his turf and stuff back, as per their agreement. He did his part, and is currently making Lily a very happy person (Rivera concurs that Lily is ecstatic), and now he wants Rivera to do his part (turn over the do-re-mi and the power, ASAP). They are interrupted by a call from Liletta, who informs Sonny that Garcia wants to talk to him since Damien bit the dust at Ward House inferno tonight. Sonny asks Rivera if Damien had mob help in his exit from this life. Rivera reminds Sonny that his word is gold, and that he told Sonny he would leave Damien alone. He does suggest that Sonny reconsider consolidating his power with Damien being toast and all, but Sonny says to let him worry about the happenings in PC. Mac worries to Robin (as tho she hasn't got enough problems) that Kat has been MIA for a whole hour (yes folks, sixty whole minutes). Robin thinks its sweet that Mac is so "into" Kat (I think its nauseating, but that's my problem). She opines that Kat is going to show up any second, unharmed. Robin is proven right, and Kat gushes all over Mac about her success (getting the job as Justus' PR person), and her plans to rehabilitate his career. Mac listens, until a phone call comes telling of the Ward house inferno, and Damien's death. When Mac clues Kat in she LAUGHS. She then wonders why Mac is looking at her like she has lost her mind. (Personally, I got the feeling Mac was accusing her of something with that stare, but again, I could be wrong). Kevin and Lucy learn of the Ward House inferno on TV and of Damien's death. Lucy is surprised that she feels nothing. Kevin says for her to get a grip, Damien got what he deserved. She agrees, tho she does admit that there were times that she actually liked Damien. Remember, to the tune of Burn baby Burn.... Burn baby burn, Damien is murdered, burn baby burn, burn this motha out.... Sorry about all the editorializing, but it really was one of those days...you'd think that Damien's exit would have been more exiciting, but it really was quite boring, and anticlimatic. As a matter of fact, most of the suspects seemed to have alibis. -- As always, a not so impartial update by.....Tahnda@water.ca.gov Feel free to send all comments, criticisms and flames!
