 ==============================================================================
Update for the week of Jan 1 - Jan 5 from the local newspaper:
Tony told Monica and Alan there is a possibility that Jason may suffer brain
damage. Ned told A.J., who had no memory of the car accident, that this will
be the last time he covers for him. After A.J. told Kevin that he was respon-
sible for Jason's condition, Kevin assured Ned that he would keep their secret.
Jason briefly opened his eyes. Keesha told a comatose Jason that she needs
him. A.J. fought the urge to drink again. Sonny assured a slightly injured
Damian that he knew nothing about the attempt to kill him. Later Sonny told
Rivera that he wants to more violence in Port Charles. Ruby comforted a deva-
stated Brenda, who learned the commitment Sonny told her about was his future
marriage to Lily. Lucy was skeptical when Damian said he was not a crime
lord. Garcia asked Katherine to testify against Damian. Dr Dorman told
Audrey that he rented his lakeside cabin to Damian. Damian kidnapped a
terrified Katherine.

And now the Friday 1/5/96 update in the depressingly-linear Johnny-style...

Scene 1
Lily tells Sonny how the kids at the Ward house caught her in the crossfire
of a snowball fight. They kiss and he makes her some coffee. She spies
some champagne; he says he has something to celebrate with her.

Scene 2
Robin visits Brenda in her room above Kelly's. Brenda is still moaning
about Edward snookering her out of her L&B shares and that the rest of her
life is now resting in the toilet. Robin adds to the misery and breaks the
news about Jason; she says Ned probably needs some support from Brenda right
  about now.

Scene 3
At GH Bobbie explains to Ned that Jason's blood pressure is plummeting; he's
gone into neurogenic shock ["Quick Nurse Jones, unbutton your blouse! The
shock of being near those giant hooters may bring him out of his coma!!"].
Tony wanders in and Ned wants to know what's being done. Tony tells him the
drugs Jason is on but it doesn't mean anything to Ned; he's frustrated by the
lack of answers and the medical jargon he doesn't understand. Tony says that
Jason suffered massive head trauma. Chances for a full recovery are slim to
none [yikes!]. Long-range prognosis could be either complete recovery or
the kid may end up with the brain activity of a doorstop
[however, on the bright side, if Jason ends up with very little brain
activity he could always be home-plate in those friendly Quartermaine
baseball games or he could go into politics.]
Outside in the corridor, Alan and Monica arrive at the hospital. Audrey
offers her sympathy. Dr Dorman tells Audrey that Damian has rented his
lakeside cottage through February. Audrey archly tells him that Damian is
under investigation by the Feds and Dorman shouldn't spend the rent checks
  in advance.

Scene 4
Outside Dorman's cottage Damian is shuffling around in the snow. He find
a small boat, covered with a tarp, and ponders on its future usefulness.

Scene 5
Brenda is tearful and upset at the thought of Jason being hurt. Robin tries
to comfort her and tells her she knows Jason is strong enough to survive.
Brenda wants to go visit him but Robin tells her to stay away for now.
Robin tells Brenda that A.J. told her he had resumed drinking; she relates
the "official" version of the accident. Brenda starts to go off on a tan-
gent and Robin gently tells her that Sonny told her about his engagement to
  Lily.

Scene 6
At Sonny's apartment, he offers to make dinner for Lily. Sonny tells her
how great Lily is because she can anticipate his needs and get out of his
way so as not to cramp him. He sits her down and gives her a ruby engage-
ment ring. He tells her that he got her a ruby because in the bible it
says that a good woman is more precious than rubies and Lily is precious
to him [awwww]. They agree to try to make each other happy.

Scene 7
Katherine is talking to Mac about art deco...she wants to relocate to the
Babylon Hotel in Miami. A big chain has bought the hotel and restored it
and she wants to hide out there. Mac wants to go with her and they plan
to fly out the next afternoon. Mac is making out a "to-do" list of stuff
for Felicia while he's gone to Miami. He realizes that he's got to go to
the club. He doesn't want to leave Katherine alone but she assures she'll
be safe for the short time he'll be gone.

Scene 8
Jason seems to be responding to the new drugs he's being given. Monica is
thankful that Ned was at Jason's side during his crisis and that Bobbie
acted quickly to call Tony. Ned appears to be beating himself up about
Jason. A.J. arrives and wants to be filled in...then he says he's got
something to tell both his parents. He tells them he's started therapy
with Kevin and hopes to work through not only drinking issues but family
issues. He also says he's started attending AA meetings and will go into
rehab if they want him to. A.J. admits that this is the first time he has
truly wanted to stop drinking. Alan and Monica tell him they're there if
he needs anything. Outside Jason's room, Ned takes A.J. aside and tells him
not to blab too much to Kevin. He also tells him to take a good look at
Jason and feel bad about what he did.

Scene 9
Robin and Brenda discuss what Sonny told Robin about his engagement to Lily.
Brenda insists tearfully that Sonny loves only her. She tells Robin that
Sonny probably made a deal with Lily's father; Robin agrees. She tells
Brenda that Sonny is a mobster and he would probably have been killed in
prison because he's "in the life" and in it forever. Brenda asks Robin if
she thinks Sonny will go through with the marriage. Robin says yes.

Scene 10
In Sonny's apartment he and Lily moose around after dinner and joke about
pork products. Then they repair upstairs for some suckling pig.

Scene 11
Damian wanders around inside the cabin. In a big freezer he finds a leg
of venison. He lifts the heavy blunt object out and crashes it down hard
on the edge of the counter. Then he leaves it out to thaw just a bit
before refreezing it. [SPOILER: okay, here we have the classic murder
weapon. He's obviously fixing to disappear and make it appear he was
clubbed to death by the haunch of venison. And our favorite frowzy blonde
will be left holding the hoof.]

Scene 12
Ned catches Kevin in the GH hallway and warns him to keep his mouth shut
about what A.J. tells him in therapy.

Scene 13
Monica, Alan, and A.J. gather around Jason's bed. Jason flickers his
eyelids and opens his eyes. The family is thrilled except that Jason
doesn't seem to be focusing on anything.

Scene 14
Alone in her apartment the darkness and the ferocious wind upset Katybell.
She nervously flits around until she can stand the tension no mort. She
grabs her purse and bolts for the car. She arrives outside the back door of
the Outback Club. Upstairs in her apartment Lucy is bothered by the
incessant quacking of Sigmund. She checks the doors and windows and looks
out her bedroom window just in time to see Katherine drive up. What Lucy
didn't see, however, was Satan-Boy Damian jump out and grab Kath. He hustled
her into his own car and drove off into the night!
