                            GH Update for 12/29/95
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

Well, update fans, this is the last update for the year 1995. The year had its
ups and downs with the usual range of performances from great to mediocre
(spell that Miguel), and news had it ratings were off due to the downbeat
stories causing TPTB to drop some ideas for story lines. In fact, I have
managed to get hold of several of the proposed plot lines that were discarded
for fear of further viewer loss.

Alan is diagnosed with a badly enlarged prostrate probably due to lack of
   use.

Ruby's laser hemorhoid surgery goes badly awry when she absentmindedly
eats a bowl of her chili before the operation.

Amy's breast implant suddenly ruptures requiring major reconstructive
   surgery - to Mike's face.

Tom reveals he actually was forced to leave Africa after he inadvertently
tried to perform a gynecological exam on a local chieftain who
subsequently ordered him to be neutered and fed to the baboons.

Mac is arrested by Officer Johnson for solicitation when he is found
roaming the docks accosting sailors dressed as Eve.

Lucky and Sly's friendship takes an unexpected turn when Sly confides to
Lucky that he finds Clark sexier than Lois.

And the most depressing story abandoned was...
A talentless hairy hunk-wannabee comes to PC and woos women and becomes a
singing star. No, wait, sorry, they did that one.

Now, on to the update and a Happy New Year.

Scene 1
Ned arrives at the scene of AJ's car crash and finds Jason unconscious on the
ground.
Scene 2
Mike questions Luke about Sonny's grand jury results, but Luke plays dumb [not
a stretch]. Sonny pops in and tells Luke the grand jury failed to indict him
[get real, this is about as believable as the spacey spaceman story line].
Scene 3
The Q's argue over AJ's drinking but are still unaware of the accident.
Scene 4
AJ awakens, but Jason appears badly injured. Ned sees that AJ is drunk and
quickly drags him away.
Scene 5
Monica attacks Alan [so what's new here] about his "tough love" attitude toward
AJ. When Edward sticks his opinion in, Alan says to butt out, and Lila strongly
suggests to Edward that he support AJ parent's decisions. Eventually, they all
go to find AJ and Jason.
Scene 6
Sonny and Luke discuss Sonny's deal with Rivera ["I'll gladly marry your
daughter Tuesday, for a grand jury fix today"]. When Luke mentions Brenda,
Sonny tells him she's history, yesterday's news, strictly auld lang syne, last
year's fashion, day old bread [you get the picture], but Luke says Brenda is
more tenacious than a hungry pit bull, and Sonny's got the bone she wants.
Scene 7
Ned gets AJ back to the gatehouse and calls an ambulance for Jason.
Afterwards, he gives AJ a shot, right in the kisser, knocking him out. He
calls Reginald and tells him to come to the gatehouse immediately but tell no
one.
Scene 8
Lily arrives to celebrate with Sonny who tells Mike the good news. Mike
confides to Luke that he thinks Luke and Lily knew something was going on.
Scene 9
Damian gets a phone call from a friend of Cassius [did he also have a lean and
hungry look?] who wants to meet with him.
Scene 10
Ned asks Reginald to put AJ on ice and not let him see or talk to anyone.
Scene 11
Damian phones Luke's to talk to Sonny pretending to be from Justus Ward's
office, but Luke is not fooled for a second and brushes him off.
Scene 12
Ned tends to Jason as the ambulance arrives. When the police arrive, Ned tells
them he was driving.
Scene 13
As Sonny and Lily discuss a wedding date, Sonny thinks, "God, I love Brenda,
but I can't trust her. I trust Lily and will make it work with her." [Really
he thinks, "Brenda, the dumb bitch, we had it going good till she ratted me
out; now I owe Papa Rivera big time, and if I screw up he's going to refry my
beans but good. Oh, well, I guess Lily's better than a midnight dance with Big
Frank in the house of many doors.]
Scene 14
At the gatehouse, as Ned gives his bogus explanation to the police, Reginald
appears, having apparently secured AJ in the other room, and Ned tells him to
relay the story to the Q's while he heads for GH.
Scene 15
Alan and Monica continue to worry where AJ and Jason are. When Emily is very
concerned that Alan will throw AJ out, Alan tries to reassure her saying he
loves AJ very much, and Monica uncharacteristically supports him.
Scene 16
As Sonny babbles about the wedding, Lily thinks, "He's not in love with me.
God, I wish he was. It's all right; I understand the deal we made... in time he
will love me." [Really she thought, "Yes! I win; I win. Thank heaven that
feather-brained-bimbo thinks more with her crotch than her head, or I wouldn't
have had a chance.] Eventually, Sonny officially proposes to Lily and publicly
announces the engagement just as Brenda walks in. Luke tells her about the
grand jury, but when she tries to catch Sonny's eye, he pointedly ignores her.
Scene 17
Reginald interrupts and gives the Q's the news about Jason. When he's asked
about AJ, he doesn't quite lie by saying "they" didn't find him.
Scene 18
Sonny offers a toast to Lily while Brenda looks on. When Sonny and Lily leave,
they walk right past Brenda without a word.
Scene 19
As Damian waits on the docks, he hears a person approach in the dark.
Scene 20
In the GH ER, Jason is wheeled in for [everyone together now] a CAT scan. When
asked about Jason's status, Bobbie, trained OR nurse that she is, replies, "He
has a head injury." [Duh, no kidding, Hindenberg Chest, could it have anything
to do with the boulder embedded in his skull?] Alan and Monica arrive and
demand more information. "Well," Tony tells them glumly, "I'm afraid your bill
is only $3,000 so things don't look good, but we'll know more when it's
$10,000."
Scene 21
Ned phones Lois and tells her he can't make it for New Year's. She wants to
return immediately, but he convinces her not to. He conveniently doesn't
mention his taking the blame for AJ.
Scene 22
Lily and Sonny return to the penthouse. He thanks her for getting him off [in
more ways than one] because he would have died in prison. He explains his
stepfather used to lock him in a closet then beat him, and he'd kill himself
before that would ever happen again. She tells him he's welcome, but he's safe
and that's what's important. "Unless," she thinks displaying that Madonna-like
smile of hers, "you screw me over, then Papa will make your old closet will
seem like a suite at the Hilton."
Scene 23
When Damian finally sees someone and calls out, automatic gunfire is the reply
he gets. Though we are left unsure if he's hit, we do hear a splash in the
water.
