Sub-updater note... Tangy Nancy is on her annual Christmas break, so
hopefully my rarely-used updating skills will live up to the fine
products she and all the other regular updaters give us each week.

Today's Stories A Good Day For Monica

                           Take My Daughter, Please!

A Good Day For Monica:
*In the Q's living room Monica and Lila explain to Emily what
the traditions are for a Quatermaine Christmas... the celebration at the
hospital, followed by Alan's annual battle with AJ and Jason on how to
arrange the train set. Lila gets Emily to recount how she would spend
Christmas with her mother; Monica asks Emily if she wants to put some of
Page's ornaments on their tree this year. Reggie delivers the latest gift
from the secret admirer...
        *The gift is an 18th century stickpin.  Reggie returns to get Lila;
seems Cook is in a foul mood. Emily can't help but wonder why Monica keeps
getting these gifts, so she asks Monica point-blank if she's having an affair.
*Monica has to have Emily repeat herself, and then assures the girl
that her fears are untrue. Monica is troubled, because she shudders to think
what Emily thinks of the Q's. Ned enters the living room, happy to find his
two favorite "dames". When he asks what's up, and Monica tells him what Emily
asked her, Emily is mortally embarrassed.
*Emily just can't believe that Monica said what she said; don't the
Q's get embarrassed about *anything*? Ned think's this is a good thing...
they're starting to talk to each other almost like a normal family. Emily
heads off for the attic, in search of the Christmas ornaments; before she
goes, Emily gives a positive review of her conversation with Monica. Monica
can barely contain her excitement. After Em's gone, Ned asks the question
again... is she having an affair? No affairs in this house right now...
Alan couldn't go through with it, and sex has not been on Monica's priority
list in a long time. Ned thinks that's about to change; Monica's vibrant,
sparkling, glowing... Ned denies that he's her secret admirer, but he'd
gladly take the credit if that's what has made her so happy.
*Alan comes in, and says he spoke with Emily. No wonder Monica's
in a good mood. He notices the new stickpin...
*Monica counts her blessing to Alan: She's healthy, the reconstruction
process is nearly done, Emily, none of the Q's are attacking each other *too*
much. Alan is beaming... seeing Monica so happy and positive is wonderful.
After a passion-filled kiss, Monica asks if it helps him to know that she
wants to... (but implies that she's not ready).

They Go SPLAT!:
*Simone and Tommy are in her living room when Justus emerges from
the kitchen; apparently the councilman thinks he makes a mean spinach souffle.
Tommy is doing his best to ignore Justus. Simone's pager goes off; she has to
go back to the hospital to check on a patient. Justus is left in charge, and
he's plenty frustrated that Tommy won't talk to him.
*Justus is trying to come up with an idea of something that he and
Tommy could do. Board games? Cards? Statues? (Tommy won that one) Felicia
breaks up the "merriment"; she's looking for Maxie's missing Power Stranger.
Tommy leaves for his room, giving Justus and Felicia a chance for small talk.
The article on Sonny's arrest troubled Felicia, and she also wonders what is
up with Tommy. Justus realizes that Tommy is trying to faze him out, and he
thinks that Tom's behind it.
*Felicia defends Tom - he's not always the bad guy. Justus refuses
to be anything but skeptical over Tom's behavior. Felicia offers to clarify
any questions that Justus may have about Tom's panic attack; since she was
there, her answers my be more enlightening than Simone's second-hand info.
Justus has only one question - was it real? Felicia tells him that it was
a real panic attack, that it was scary, and it shook Tommy. Justus admits
that Tom handled Tommy's disappearance from the schoolyard well, and also
the situation before they all went to Luke's; maybe Tom is getting his act
together. Felicia seems to think that Tom just needed time to get
readjusted to life in Port Charles, and now that he has, he's ready to
move on and let go of the past. Justus doesn't quite believe it. As for
Tommy.. patience. That's what Justus needs. Maxie runs in, and asks
Felicia for eggs. Eggs? Maxie wants to play Tommy's new game - he's
throwing eggs at Justus's car. They go *splat*! As everyone heads out
of Simone's apartment, Felicia tries to get her daughter to understand that
this is not funny.
*On the steps of the Brownstone, Tommy's having a blast as he
continues to egg Justus's car... until Justus stops him. Justus sends
the Jones' inside, but Maxie doesn't want to leave, she really wanted to
play Tommy's neat game. Justus, who had brought abucket of soapy water
with him, tells Tommy to clean up the car *now*. Tommy refuses, so he and
Justus exchange "you will"/"I won't" for awhile. Justus stells Tommy that
they're not going inside until the car has been cleaned. Tommy takes a
seat on the steps.
*Justus tries again to get Tommy to clean the egg of the car, but
Tommy's not budging. Whistling as he walks, Tom approaches the steps.
Tommy tells his Daddy that Justus is being mean to him.
*Justus informs Tom that he wasn't trying to discipline Tommy - that's
Tom's and Simone's job. He just wanted Tommy to clean up the mess he made.
Tom asks if that's what happened... Tommy reluctantly admits that Justus
is telling the truth. Tom tells Tommy to get busy - no questions, no
arguements, no attitude. While Tommy starts the cleaning process, Justus
tells Tom that Simone was paged, and left him to watch over Tommy. Tommy
doesn't appear to have liked that too much. Justus and Tom agree that they
have the makings of a real problem...
*In Simone's living room, Justus watches as Simone returns from
Tommy's room. She and Tommy had a long talk, and... Tommy refuses to
apologize; she also seems to be giggling at the whole incident. ;-)
Justus grudgingly admits that Tom was good, supportive to Justus' side,
didn't cut Tommy any slack... not even a wisecrack. Simone's happy that
Justus is starting to believe that Tom is capable of change.

The Mystery Benefactor:
*In the visiting room at the jail, Sonny is introduced to a
Mr. Winston Sharpe. Seems Mr. Sharpe has just posted Sonny's Bail.
*Sonny has no clue who this guy is, and why he would post the $5M
bond. Mr. Sharpe tells him that he represents someone who doesn't want to
see Sonny deprived of his freedom. Sonny wonders who his benefactor is.
Mr. Sharpe cane take Sonny to meet the mystery man at Sonny's earliest
convienience.
---------------

Luke's Current Headaches:
*Luke answers the phone at the bar. It's Sonny. He's out! Sonny
tells him that an anonymous champion sprung him, and he's going to meet
with him shortly. Luke warns him to watch his back. Lucy arrives, still
bummed about having her party ruined. The thought of Sonny in jail didn't
help matters, but finding out Sonny's out on bail cheers her a bit. Lucy
tells Luke that Kevin helped her through last night's disappointment. Luke
thinks that it's awful handy to have a live-in shrink. Lucy points out that
*technically* she and Kevin don't live together; they had a ceremonial key
exchange... so they're avoiding the larger commitment issue.
*Lucy's ready to file a complaint with the PCPD about their pattern
of harassment. First her duck, then arresting Sonny... Luke knows he'll
regret it, but he asks anyway - harassing the duck? Oy. Brenda arrives,
asking if there's been any word from Sonny. When she finds out on bail,
Brenda can't imagine who would have put up the money. Luke tells her that
Sonny's getting ready to meet with the person.
*Brenda's ranting a bit... surely Luke has some idea about who the
benefactor might be. Luke tells her to drop it; her nosiness has gotten her
and Sonny in trouble too many times before. Luke leaves, and Brenda tells
Lucy that she thinks Luke hates her. Lucy tries to calm her down. Brenda
tells Lucy that she and Sonny were so close... Lucy tells her to have a
little faith.

Take My Daughter, Please!:
*Sonny's joined in a hotel room in Rochester by Rivera; Sonny is
surprised to see him, more surprised that Lily called him. And why did he
come all the way up to Rochester? Rivera wanted to talk to Sonny in person.
He can make this all go away... for a price.
*Sonny knows that Rivera is a powerful man, but this time, there's
a paper trail. Rivera reminds him that strange things happen to evidence,
witnesses forget/disappear, juries become sympathetic... Sonny is still
being very cautious. Rivera says that his plan is that he will run Sonny's
operation in the interim. Sonny wants to know how he can be sure he'll ever
get it back.
*Rivera wants to know if Sonny wants to continue their conversation.
Sonny doesn't seem to think he has much of a choice in the matter; he doesn't
have much of anything to bargain with, though. Rivera tells Sonny that he
holds the key to Lily's happiness. In exchange for what Rivera has already
done, and is willing to do, Rivera wants Sonny to "take care of" Lily...
to marry her. Lily loves him, and Rivera knows that Sonny does have real
feelings for his daughter. So marry her; father her children (Rivera
grandchildren!)... once the RICO situation is cleared up, life will be good.
And later on, Sonny will inherit Rivera's organization. Sonny is honored,
but... he needs more time to consider this enormous decision. Rivera is
headed back to San Juan; Sonny promises to call him tomorrow with his answer.
