                            GH Update for 10/20/95
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

This was a highly disappointing day on GH. I was anxiously awaiting significant
action in the Madame Maia story line, but instead I was mostly caught between
the Scylla and Charybdis [see a past Friday update for reference] of
Miguel/Sonny and Damian/Katherine/Mac/.

Scene 1
After the concert Lois, Ned, Brenda, and Miguel plot to connive Sonny into
breaking the L&B contract.
Scene 2
Alan attempts conversation with Monica about the Wellness Center, then once
again, he verbally prostrates himself trying to apologize for his almost tryst
with Bobbie.
Scene 3
Mac barges into Katherine's apartment to talk about her and Damian, who
coincidently is now in her bed waiting for her imminent return. She tries
desperately to shuttle back and forth, eventually shoving Damian into a bubble
bath [What little humor this scene started with got rapidly tiresome from over
exposure].
Scene 4
Alan continues to babble pathetically [get some guts you jellyfish], but Monica
is cold [so what's new here]. Eventually, Lila and Edward appear followed by a
downcast Emily.
Scene 5
Lois explains Frank Cepeda's buy out bid to Sonny and tries to get him to take
it. Sonny wants to know what's in it for him. Ned tells him there's lots of
money in it. They also mention Miguel would be going on a three month concert
tour [take it, please]. Sonny seems to be seriously considering the offer
until Brenda blurts out that she'd be going too; at which point, he says no
deal.
Scene 6
When Emily complains of bad dreams, Lila suggests they work on Emily's mother's
quilt. Lila also asks Emily to call her Grandmother.
Scene 7
Mac nuzzles Katherine while questioning her about Damian. Soon, however, the
soaking Damian begins to get as wrinkled as a proverbial prune and starts to
call out. Kat immediately stashes Mac in the kitchen to cook blini [what the
hell is a blini anyway?] and rushes back to the bath where Damian tries to hold
her, but she makes up some lame excuse about making some goodies and heads back
to the kitchen where Mac is cooking up a smoky storm. [This type of action
continued ad nauseam]
Scene 8
AJ tells Monica and Edward that enigmatic-entrepreneuse Carla has split for
parts unknown which he feels is a sure sign it was all a setup. [duh, no lie]
Scene 9
Sonny explains that he feels now would not be a good time to sell out just a
some of L0 assets are beginning to pay off. In the process, he makes pointed
references to Miguel as a "cash cow." [I guess that means he's "udderly"
worthless] After Frank Cepeda leaves, Miguel angrily confronts Sonny saying it
wasn't a game they were dealing with; it was his career. "You should have
thought of that before you stuck it to the boss," Sonny shot back indicating
Brenda. "You're such a bastard," Brenda hissed. "Puta, [prostitute]" Sonny
spit back. At that point, Miguel lunged for Sonny who smashed a bottle and
threatened to "cut that face of yours right now." Lois and Lily wisely jumped
in between the two mediocre-machismos saving the scene from total collapse into
farce. Eventually, Ned returned, and Sonny was urged to leave while Brenda
stood looking stunned and confused.
Scene 10
AJ continues to rant about Carla's set up, but Jason does not sympathize enough
for Keesha's taste.
Scene 11
More Katherine/Mac/Damian capers with the guys getting closer and closer.
Scene 12
Jason argues to Keesha that if they give in to AJ's self-pity, he'll just back
slide into drinking again.
Scene 13
Lois recaps the options they have left since Sonny won't sell. They decide
that Miguel should go on concert tour for Cepeda. When Brenda says she'll go
too, Ned tells her she can't since she has a contract to model for Deception.
Miguel then balks at the tour until Brenda convinces him to go. [Yes!]
Scene 14
The now completed shriveled [in more ways than one] Damian tries valiantly to
keep the increasingly manic Katherine in the bathroom, but she escapes and in
desperation gets Mac to take her to his place, and they split.
Scene 15
AJ eyes the liquor bottle and pours himself a hefty glass full.
Scene 16
Lois and Brenda negotiate a few points with Frank Cepeda about Miguel's trip.
Brenda is disgustingly morose over Miguel's leaving.
