Daily Updates
From: vnewton@astro.ocis.temple.edu (Vicky Newton) Subject: GH: Thursday Update Date: 25 Aug 1995 17:20:57 GMT hip1nyc asked me to post this update for her. This is the first time I've ever done this so please, be gentle. ;-) Kevin and Lucy Kevin brought literature to Lucy to try to make her understand that Maia may be brainwashing her. He doesn't want her to go to Madam Maia's seminar because it would leave her open to Maia's manipulation. He tells her about the articles and how they document that people who have been brainwashed will passionately defend their manipulators. Lucy says she is not being brainwashed. She isn't buying any of Kevin's literature. Kevin explains that they like to isolate subjects under the guise of these seminars and then they can use manipulation and psychic stress which is tailored to alter the body's stress which makes the subject more open to suggestions and control. Lucy will have none of it. Kevin compares this type of manipulation to Hitler. He says, "How do you think Hitler was able to whip all those people into a frenzy at the Nuremburg rally. Lucy got indignant and says she won't listen to Kevin compare Maia to Hitler. Maia is just a sweet little gentle old lady who doesn't want to be anyones guru and that the conference is to explore what is within, not outside forces. Kevin realizes it may be too late. Lucy tells Kevin she finds it very narrow minded of him to think she is brainwashed and calls him suspicious. He says he isn't suspicious he is cynical. It's an occupational hazard from deprogramming people who turn to unscrupulous cults for meaning and englightenment. Lucy tells him that it isn't Maia, but that Kevin is afraid that if she does go to this seminar she will come back so strong he will not be able to control her. He points out that he has never been able to control her. He finally tells her he's tried, and when the time comes for her to need deprogramming, he suggests she see Tom Hardy. He then quietly left. Sigmund comes out then and Lucy tells him that Kevin left, and he didn't even slam out to show how much he really cared. She tells Sigmund that he is such a comfort to her but sometimes his sweet little quack just isn't enough. She phones Jon Hanley and asks him to meet her at Lukes. Bobbie and Alan Bobbie and Tony are at the hospital and they discuss Lucky's progress. Bobbie tells Tony she wants to talk to Luke before going home for Lucas's birthday celebration because she is so concerned about him. He agree's to go home and prepare and make dinner, icing the cake, etc. Alan is standing by listening to all of this and Bobbie talks to him about how Tony is the perfect husband and what more could a woman expect? She wants to know why it feels like such a hollow victory? Alan tells her to see Luke tomorrow and to come have a drink with him now at Lukes. After some slight arm twisting, she agrees. At Lukes Bobbie says it feels so good to just sit with Alan and be with him and just be herself. He tells her she is more than o.k. She gets that stupid kupie doll look and in her baby talk voice and tells him "You aren't bad either." Lucy shows up and Bobbie notices that Lucy took note of them. Lucy sits down with Jon Hanley and complains that Kevin is trying to control her. She says his is just so rational, intelligent and intellectual about everything. Jon points out that is what intrigued Lucy about Kevin. She says it is infuriating her right now. She wants to know why love can't be easy and wonderful. All the while she is keeping an eye on Bobbie and Alan. Then she says this to Jon about her situation with Kevin... "Men, you can't live with them and you can't kill them legally in most states." She decides she is going to the seminar whether Kevin likes it or not. Jon warns her that her troubles with Kevin are just beginning. (a strange comment from him! do you think Maia has him on her payroll?) Lucy realized Bobbie is with Alan when it is Lucas' birthday. Bobbie realizes that Lucy has their number and says it's time to leave. Outside, Alan kisses her, they look meaningfully into each other's eyes and then go for it. While they are sucking face, Lucy comes out and sees them. When they break apart, Bobbie tells Alan not to kiss her again because she can't handle it. Alan leaves and Lucy walks up to Bobbie and tells her "Shame on you Barbara Jean Spencer. Bobbie tells Lucy it wasn't what she though, but Lucy isn't buying it. She asks Bobbie what she is doing. Did she have to prove she could get Tony back before she started another affair? Bobbie denies an affair and Lucy perceptively points out that they are as close to it as it can get. She knows all the signals, because she was married to Alan. Then she told Bobbie to think about poor Monica, first the cancer, now this! Bobbie tells her to stop it. Does Lucy think that Bobbie and Alan are stupid enough to flaunt an affair in a public place frequented by most of their friends? Lucy tells Bobbie she doesn't deserve either of these men and she has a mind to tell them just that. Bobbie tells her she better not. She brings up Damian and tells Lucy she owes her one for that. Lucy asks Bobbie is she really thinks what she is doing isn't wrong. Bobbie admits that yes, she knows it's wrong, but "you know, there is only so much crawling around on your knees a woman can do." "Eventually, your knees start to bleed." She is not going to spend the rest of her life in sack cloth and ashes for a stupid mistake that Lucy set her up to make, so keep your mouth shut and don't say anything to anyone. Bobbie then goes on to Lucas and Tony. While they head in to wash up to go out to dinner, she relives the kiss with Alan, and then Lucy telling her "Shame on you Barbara Jean Spencer Jones." "Do you really think what you are doing isn't wrong?" Bobbie shakes the memory off and heads up to Tony and Lucas. Felicia is selling Lemonade with Maxie and Lucas is playing in the background. They take off to see a puppy down the street. Tom comes along and they talk about his day. He tells her about Justice declaring open season on him and threatening Tommy's custody, etc. Since the lemonade isn't selling anymore he takes it in to go make some Vodka Collins'. Simone comes along and Felicia tells her to join her. Tom comes out with his pitcher of Vodka Collins' and they all indulge. Tony comes along and joins them. Felicia is happy to be drinking and spending time with 3 adults. Tony complains about the steps being sticky and Tom goes for the hose to wash them down. After threatening Simone and Tony with a bath from the hose he turns it on Felicia who decides she likes it. Tom and Felicia decide to take the the lemonade stuff inside and Tony and Simone remain outside and talk. They talk about the divorce and Tony tells her to really think about it and if it is the right thing to do. Tony tells her how glad that he is that he and Bobbie toughed it out. Simone says she is tired of being second in his life to Africa, other women, and his ambitions. Tony points out that Tom is a good man and he may have changed. Felicia and Tom are back at her apartment. She is drying off and talking about what a sight she must be. It doesn't look like he minds her looks. The air is rather charged, but Simone interrupts by bringing the money from the lemonade sale inside. She then invites Tom to dinner with her and Tommy. The end!
