From: jyarnot@netcom.com (Jan Yarnot) Subject: GH: Breakfast Update Thursday July 27 Date: Fri, 28 Jul 1995 15:05:22 GMT (hip1nyc has kindly donated net.airsickness.bags in case I need same today.) I hereby announce that I am stealing "Brain-Dead" for use if I need it. I mostly steal the best ideas of the rest of you, since I can't come up with the same myself (OK, OK, I admit to Ick-L, and "Boring and Nastysha" but that was only after someone else had recognized the similarity to Boris and Natasha. Usually I just read T&T and plagiarize a lot.) Without further ado, I bring you BREAKFAST. At Kellys: Braindead is back in Miguel's room as he wakes up. She insists everything is fine, and she'll have an enormous omelet with lots and lots of fattening butter, maybe she'll die of cholesterol poisoning before the day is up. Everything's fine, really, and they're still friends, "as long as we're honest with each other." (She's lying. To herself.) Then she decides on a bagel after all. They bounce to L&B, and Lois is concerned with the hyper Braindead. "Brenda, are you in there?" She's suspicious, but B. insists everything is fine, looks out the window and remembers being with Sonny. (one airsick bag today. Not too bad.) At the Brownstone: Tom has made up a mess of waffles for Tommy at Simone's apartment. He can fix breakfast for ME anytime! Tommy is rapidly turning into the Master Manipulator, wanting Tom to stay, but Tom says later they will go buy fish for MortimerYouCanCallMeMort. They try to give Simone a heart attack when she comes in, and Tom shows he is truly the father to the Young Manipulator by making snide comments about the boy friend, and the waffle iron, etc. Simone holds her own, though Tommy wants to escape day camp and spend the day with Tom. Felicia is getting some sun on the steps and Tony comes out. Tom interrupts and Felicia says "it's nice to have a father around", bringing a snort of derision from Tony. They discuss snakes and the reptile house. Tony is afraid of snakes, and probably won't be taking Lucas to the reptile house with Tom, Tommy, Felicia and the girls. Tom and Tony head off to the hospital. Simone is washing that man right off of her table when there's a knock and it's Bobbie with marriage advice. Mac comes and sits with Felicia and points out that with Sonny in Puerto Rico, this is a good time to break-and-enter and other illegal fun things. In Puerto Rico: Lily thinks it would be nice to see Juan. Sonny agrees. They will not tell the Salazars that Miguel is no longer in the picture, but Lily will bring Juan somewhere where Sonny can meet him. Not today, though, as the situation with her father is still volatile. St. Miguel, though, never understood. At the Gatehouse: Ned brings Lois breakfast. Isn't breakfast a way to a woman's heart? "No," corrects Lois, "that's a really good foot massage." There's a new story about the Charles Street scandal in the paper, and Ned squares off to face the music in the Big House. Denied the opportunity to give him her "with your shield or on it" speech, Lois settles for "come back in one piece" as Ned does his Henry V "into the breach" exit. At the Big House: Reginald is pouring coffee while Jason snipes at Edward and AJ's lifestyle choices: the cholesterol police. Edward explains that if he doesn't get the breakfast of choice, he'll be stressed, and after all, it's his stress level he has to keep down. Right on cue, in comes Ned. There has to be bloodletting, and AJ is it. The nice morning family banter settles into its familiar "No way!" "Way!" pattern as Emily sidles into the room gathering snowballs. She slides behind Alan: "I'm going to need some help with this." He tells her: "Don't think of it as an argument, it's more of a spectator sport." He starts commenting on each parry and riposte (well, yeah, I know he used tennis terms not fencing ones, but I'm in a metaphor-mixing mood!) Game Set and Match to AJ. Ned notices Emily and makes his face for her. (Pity Edward missed this!) As the Qs scatter in their various directions, Emily thanks Ned for giving her the signal. Ned tells her that she's like "Grandmother... you give us a reason to be nice." Emily must wonder what they are like when they are NOT nice. Ned goes up to Edward and tells him he enjoys these brawls too much, and they should consider Emily. Edward was very impressed with AJ in this argument, and Ned is still not quite in his, Edward's, good graces. Ned will make an announcement of some sort to the press to squelch this once and for all. Next week: Lunch. -- Jan Yarnot, net.granny, RABbabe, Proud Mom to Stands-With-a-Book the Booklist Boy, the IRS Guy, the Tycoon, and Sunbunny. Disgruntled baseball fan, on strike.
