Date: Sun, 9 Jul 1995 23:47:18 CDT From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 07/07/95 GH Update for 07/07/95 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 Mac coos to Katy that her talk with Robin has done wonders for the kid's attitude. Scene 2 Lucy strolls into Kevin's office to say once again how well she's doing in the stock market with Dionne Warwicks Psychic Discount Brokers. Scene 3 Stung by Tom's insinuations, Justus angrily phones Edward and insists he, Ned, and AJ meet him at once. Scene 4 Brenda sobs to Mike that Sonny has lied to her big time, but he's not surprised. She says she feels cheated Sonny won't let her in and be honest. "What is he afraid of?" she asks Mike. "That you'll break his heart," Mike answers. Scene 5 Lucy forces Kevin to calculate that she made $8000 in a week, then to celebrate drags him off to lunch her treat. Scene 6 Mac continues to express his thanks to Katy for talking to Robin. She says she's always happy to help a friend. He opins that she sure is a walking contradiction, then sits spamized while she expounds her philosophy about how people are like flavors of ice cream. [A theory, incidentally, originally proposed by the eminent philosopher Dr. Baskin von Robbins who actually identified 31 types of people.] Scene 7 Tom explains to the group about the anonymous letter he got. AJ describes how ELQ purchased the Charles Street land at inflated prices during the incinerator project. When that was abandoned, ELQ donated the land to the Charles Street Foundation, again at the inflated prices, and took a whopping tax deduction. The CSF in turn applied for a matching Federal grant based on that figure. Justus is outraged, and Tom's surprised that he didn't know. Scene 8 Brenda comes to see Lois (a positive battle of the skimpy skirts) to say she tried to get Sonny to 'fes up, but no luck, and she feels lost. Scene 9 Brenda rants on and on about how Sonny lied to her without blinking an eye, but then she starts saying how much she loves him and, to Lois' growing disbelief, that she wouldn't care if he was a mobster if only he'd have been honest with her and realize that she'd stick by him. Lois finally hears enough of this nonsense and furiously tells her that Sonny used L&B as a cover for himself and put them all in the line of fire. Lois is outraged that Brenda would be singing "Stand By Your Man" at a time like this. Brenda whimpers as usual. Scene 10 Lucy and Kevin arrive at the Outback to celebrate, causing Katy to split the scene. Lucy babbles about Madame M to Kevin's discomfort. Scene 11 Ned proposes to let their corporate attorneys look the grant over. Maybe they'll amend the ELQ tax returns and return part of the grant. Tom says he'll await their solution and leaves smugly. When AJ says he doesn't understand why they're in such trouble if it was all legal, Edward sternly tells him it's precisely AJ's inability to grasp that nuance that makes it necessary AJ resign from the foundation. AJ agrees that if the board asks, he will resign. Keesha says she will as well, but Edward declines her offer. Scene 12 More Lucy/Kevin drek about MM. Kevin continues to urge the utmost caution, but Lucy bubbles with confidence. Scene 13 Lois urges Brenda to go with Ned's plan and help finger Sonny, but Brenda can't face the idea of betraying him. Brenda insists she must give Sonny one more chance to come clean. Lois worriedly tries to impress on Brenda that she can't let Sonny know about Mac or Ned or someone may get seriously hurt. Scene 14 At the club, Brenda asks Sonny if they can get away right now. Sonny says he'd love to but can't leave because Stone needs him and her. Brenda steers the conversation to Lily's father. She asks what if he dies. Sonny answers, so what. She says he's a mobster; he says he's got pneumonia; she says it's dangerous; he says it's his choice. Finally, she smiles and gives him a Judas kiss and a hug. Scene 15 Back at the Q mansion, the recriminations are flying fast and loud. Ned says, "I told you AJ was not ready." "You didn't watch him enough," Edward counters. Alan and Jason chime in, and pretty soon the whole family gets involved. As the voices get raised, Emily begins to look very worried; Lois, noticing, motions to Monica who takes the youngster out on the patio. "Is this what happens when someone makes a mistake around here," Emily asks nervously. Scene 16 As Lucy steps off to freshen up, Mac chats with Kevin about Sonny. Mac thinks Lucy might have learned something when she was with Luke and Sonny. Kevin tells Mac even though he disapproved of her involvement, even if he knew, he couldn't tell Mac what she might have told him. Scene 17 Amidst more shouting and blaming, Monica tries to calmly explain the Q-way to Emily. Meanwhile, as Edward argues with Ned, Ned gets a call from Brenda who says even though she loves Sonny, she'll wear a wire to save him. [Where do you suppose she'll hide it in those outfits of hers?]
