          General Hospital Update for Monday, July 3, 1995

At the Outback Club, Filly briefed Mac on her investigation of Sonny. She said
she posed as a gambling-crazed housewife and eventually made contact with
Harry himself!  Felicia said that Harry gave her a $5K line of credit.  Then
she put on earphones and listened to "her" horserace; the nags she bet on won.
She asked Mac if they should bring Luke in on their scheme.  Mac replied that
he simply hoped Luke wasn't mixed up with Sonny in the mob stuff and it would
be a bad idea to let him in on their plans to bring Sonny down.  Filly and Mac
decided to plant a bug in Harry's office; she volunteered to do it the next
day when she went by to make another bet.  Later on, Robin appeared at the
club and Mac told her about his run-in with Sonny over Stone.  Predictably,
Robin was furious at Unkie Mac and gave him the cold shoulder.

Simone asked Tom to tell her what really happened in Rwanda. He said that some
of the decisions he made resulted in death.  Simone pressed him for details of
his "deathly decisions" and Tom maundered on about the "political" decisions
he made at the outset that shaped subsequent events.  He told her that,
essentially, he had become part of the problem.  She got all shook up and
sympathized with him.  Tom laid on the old "wounded soldier" bit and Simone
continued to lap it up [this updater ain't buyin' it].  He said he desperately
needed the stability and "real-ness" of life in Port Chuck with her and Tommy
and asked her to consider a life with him again.  Then he was polite to Filly
and Mac on the way out the door.  Hmmm....what's he up to?  Tom then showed up
at GH and congratulated Kevin on his new appointment as chief of psychiatry.
He asked Kevin for a staff psychiatrist job at GH.  Kevin agreed to hire him,
subject to Steve's approval, which happened later in the day.  So Tom is on
the staff.

At the Ward house, Laura and Justus talked about Laura and Luke's situation.
Justus said that Lucky needed a father.  Laura left and Justus moosed around
at the house, waiting for Simone.  She finally appeared and they discussed Tom
and his experiences in Rwanda.  Justus wasn't very sympathetic.  Simone told
Justus that Tom is "right on the edge (emotionally)".  However, both Simone
and Justus agreed that Tom might be using his African nightmares to garner
sympathy from Simone and wheedle his way back into her and Tommy's life.  She
insisted that she was going through with the divorce.

At GH, Monica and Bobbie blatted about the wellness group. Then they started
to thrash about the GH board of directors meeting.  Bobbie defended Alan and
said he had only voiced his concerned opinion about Monica's degree of
healthiness coming from the viewpoint of a loving husband.  Monica disagreed
and the two kittens started to hiss and spit (Bobbie is SUCH a 'ho!).  Monica
got the last word in when she told Bobbie to mind her own business; then
Monica fritzed off to the Q mansion.  A bit later on, Alan met up with Bobbie
at GH and they discussed what a bitch Monica was being and how good and noble
a caring friend Bobbie was.  They decided to drown their sorrows in drinks at
the Outback.  Ancient Doc Steve went "hmmm??" as he watched them exit,
laughing and scratching.
