                            GH Update for 06/23/95
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

Today basically had three major episodes, so I'll describe them as whole rather
than scene by scene.

Kevin and Lucy
These two were the least interesting. Lucy busily congratulated herself on the
success of the Nurse's Ball. Kevin was still pouting childishly. They mostly
discussed her continued relationship with Damian. She says she realizes he was
the most destructive influence on her life. He asks why she doesn't just stay
far away from him. She claims she wanted to, but did it only for a good cause.
Eventually, they head for a roll in bed.

Brenda and Sonny
Brenda confronts Sonny about what she overheard. As expected, he claims she
misunderstood, and that Harry runs a few numbers and wanted some advice. To her
credit, Brenda doesn't swallow this particular story. Sonny, a master of the
technique of "good offense makes good defense," starts ranting about being
insulted that she thinks he's lying to her, and what does she really think that
he ordered Joe Scully's men offed in revenge. Where would he get the money for
this from L&B or Luke's Club [ha, we know, don't we]? Eventually, she relents,
and says she can handle anything but don't lie to her. He says he'd never hurt
her, but admits he has always had trouble with the difference between lie down
and lie to. They end up lying down on the floor.

Robin and Mac
The long awaited confrontation between Robin and Mac was fairly predictable.
After considerable procrastination and hand wringing, Robin finally told Mac
about Stone. As expected, he was panicked for her, and demanded she tell him
they were responsible. She reluctantly admitted after she started on the pill,
they got sloppy. Mac is furious that Stone would endanger her life. She tries
to defend him saying he was tested and was trying to get his life together.
She begs him not to hate Stone and feel compassion like others have. His grey
matter considers the request a while but ends up saying he'd really rather rip
him apart with his bare hands (now, now Mac, that not practicing safe mayhem).
Robin resolutely tells him if he did she'll never forgive him.

After the confrontation with Robin, Mac, at wits end [not a far trip for him]
storms over to Felicia's and pounds on the door. He angrily drops a blame
bombshell on Felicia blaming her for encouraging Robin and Stone's relationship
and suggesting Robin go on the pill. Felicia defends herself saying she never
expected Robin to stop using condoms but to use them in addition to the pill.
Felicia is devastated by the news and Mac's accusation; finally, Mac admits he
was just looking for someone else to blame, but he is the one who could have
prevented it. When Felicia asks, "How?" he can't answer, and she embraces him
comfortingly.

Update Bonus Section:

For those of you who missed the Nurse's Ball episodes, here's a medley of songs
performed (well, maybe not exactly like this).

==========================
[You should sing this out loud to truly appreciate the twisted humor]

If Miguel Were Only Dead [sung to If I Only Had A Brain]

I would smile away the hours, take time to smell the flowers,
I'd jump right out of bed.
And my life would be so happy, I'd be like a brand new pappy,
If Miguel were only dead.

Oh, I-I-I could tell you why-y, his acting makes me cry,
His voice is like a sound I've never heard before,
And one I wish, I'd hear no more.

I'd never FF sce-enes, no matter who would be in,
I'd watch without a dread.
I would be a happy viewer, and I'd never need to skewer,
If Miguel were only dead.

=======================
This one was too easy. Hardly needed changing.
Sung to Midnight Train to Georgia, of course.

Midnight Plane to San Juan (sung by Lily)

P.C. proved too much for the man.
(too much for the man) [background singers]
He couldn't make it, so he's leaving the life he's come to know.
  (leavin')
Oh, he's leaving on that midnight plane to San Juan
  (leavin' on the midnight plane)
He's goin' back to find a simpler place and time.
  (goin' back to find)

I won't be with him, on that midnight plane to San Juan
He'd rather live in his world, than live without me in mine.
He kept dreamin' one day he would be a star,
(a superstar, but he didn't get far)
But he soon found out the hard way, dreams don't always come true.
  (dreams don't always come true)

He's leaving on that midnight plane to San Juan
  (leavin' on the midnight plane)
Said he's goin' back to find a simpler place and time.
But I won't be with him, on that midnight plane to San Juan
I'd rather stay in this world, than to listen to him whine.

I Heard It Through Nurse Vining

Bet you're wondering how I knew that you plan to stay a hood.
With some other guys that you knew before.
Between Harry and I you know I love you more.
It took me by surprise I must say, when I found out yesterday.

Oo I heard it through Nurse Vining,
That soon I would be pining,
Oo I heard it through Nurse Vining, and I'm just about to lose my mind.
Sonny, Sonny, yeah.

You know how much I love to cry,
And these tears I can't hold inside.
Losin' you would end my life you see, cause you mean that much to me.
You could have told me your job, that you were head of the mob.

Instead I heard it through Nurse Vining,
Now I really feel like whining.
Oo I heard it through Nurse Vining, and I'm just about to lose my mind.
Sonny, Sonny, yeah.

People say believe half of what you see, Son, and none of what you hear.
I can't help bein' confused if it's true please tell me dear?
Do you plan to let me go for the other guys that you knew before?

Oo I heard it through Nurse Vining, and I'm just about to lose my mind.
Sonny, Sonny, yeah.
