Date: Mon, 12 Jun 1995 00:09:11 CDT From: jandrews@uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for 06/09/95 GH Update for 06/09/95 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 Damian meets with Madame Maya to plot her all important first encounter with Lucy. Scene 2 Bobbie continues to buzz around Alan on the pretense of being concerned about Paige. Scene 3 Luke approaches Laura and Loulou as she works in the garden. He tries to engage her in conversation, but she is still angry. They rehash the same old arguments. He insists they have to work on their problems together. She replies firmly, "No." Scene 4 Robin tells Stone about some health information she found out about HIV and AIDS. He is not optimistic, but she scolds him for his fatalistic attitude. They embrace, but he says they can never make love again; it's too risky for her. She tells him she refuses to consider never making love to him again. Scene 5 Emily is spending quality time with her mother when Bobbie comes in to visit. Emily, protective of her dwindling time with her mother, suggests that Bobbie and Monica go do lunch. Monica reluctantly agrees. Scene 6 Laura insists they've never been safe in their whole married life. Luke says they're safe now, but Laura counters that someone will pop up eventually, since he's a carrier of trouble. He tells her it seems she doesn't love him anymore. She strongly disagrees saying she does love him, and that's why her decision is so hard. Luke comments that from his perspective it doesn't look like it's so hard. Scene 7 Damian spins a tale to a husky voiced Lucy about how much he misses her "mind," and is going to underwrite the Nurse's Ball again so they will be forced together. However, he insists on three things, 1) he gets the best table, 2) she give him a public acknowledgement of his support, and 3) she agrees to a conspicuous dance with him. Lucy agrees only because it's a good cause. As Lucy leaves the restaurant, she is "accidentally" bumped into by Madame Maya who claims to get a powerful image of "a large, healthy, intelligent duck." Lucy is shocked. Scene 8 A weakening Paige tells Emily the celestial bus is arriving soon. In a poignant exchange, Paige tells her daughter how happy she is to have known her (an unusual an nicely expressed thought), and how happy she is that Emily was hers. Scene 9 Luke holds LouLou and asks Laura just to think about what she's doing. [Jeez, what an ugly baby that was in this scene. Reminded me of "Alice in Wonderland" where the baby turned into a pig.] Scene 10 Lucy immediately falls for the psychic act. Madame Maya tells her the duck is filling a void left by a missing daughter who is healthy and happy. Scene 11 Stone tells Robin he's been thinking about death a lot. Scene 12 Emily tells her mother she knows her mother had no choice and though she'll be sad and scared, Paige will always be with her. Paige tells her she loves her into infinity before drifting off into the big sleep. Scene 13 Tony comes to visit Laura. He asks how she is. "Awful, really awful," she replies. She repeats her position that someone must protect the children and put a stop to the danger now. Scene 14 Lucy strolls into Luke's and asks him what's up with his long face. He tells her Laura kicked him out. Great exchange: Luke: I'm living at my sister's. Lucy: Eeew, that's awful. Luke: It's no picnic. Lucy: Couldn't you find a better place to live? Luke fills her in on all the Spencer family dirt. Scene 15 Alan tries to console Monica over the impending demise of Paige. Scene 16 As Luke and Lucy chat, Kevin arrives. Lucy promptly tells Kevin all about her encounter with Madame Maya. He doesn't dismiss it entirely but remains cautious. Scene 17 Laura tells Tony she's afraid her children will eventually hate her for depriving them of their father. Tony emphatically rejects the notion. Scene 18 Monica returns to Paige's room where Emily, still embracing the now room temperature Paige, states simply, "she died." A salute to PC friends now passed sung to "Abraham, Martin, and John" if you're old enough to remember the song. Has anybody here seen my old friend Frank Smith? Can you tell me where he's gone? He killed lots of people, But it seems the great villains they die young I just looked around, and he was gone. Has anybody here seen by old friend Cusack? Has someone filled him full of lead? He tried to take over PC, But it seems he didn't quite make it. I have a feeling that he's dead. Has anybody here seen my old friend Joe? He just wanted a small cut. But he never got his money, 'Cause he pulled a gun on Sonny. And got a bullet in the gut. Has anybody here seen my old friend Paige? Can you tell me where'd she go? I thought I saw her walking down by the docks, With Frank Smith and Cusack and Joe.
