                        TWO JERKS AND A TEAR-JERKER

JERK ONE:
Icky, who is enraged that Sonny would dare to talk to Lily and
take Lily's side. He warns Sonny to back off! He wants to be treated
with respect (Because of what? His professionalism? His saintly
personality? Only he knows.) Brenda is in the middle, and they're each
talking through her as Luke and Mike come in. Icky swings at Sonny but Luke
grabs him off and takes him into the office. Luke points out that Miguel
is quite wrong, that Sonny is not at all like Lily's father. Brenda
tells Sonny he can't take it personally and Sonny quite rightly says he
can too. That he, Sonny, has done a lot for Icky and all he gets is
yelled at and manhandled. But after all, Brenda blathers, Miguel is an
Artist. [Sorry, Art Chick!!] Later she says "How would Lois handle
this?" and Sonny describes Lois putting her hands on her hips and glaring
at him. Brenda tries this and they start to laugh. Brenda is going to
go get Miguel and straighten this all out. Mike looks at Sonny, who
bristles: "You have something to say?" "Not to a deaf man." "You get
with the program, Mike!"
Icky assures Brenda that he won't apologize. But Brenda wants
him to stick around, and sits the two down to talk about the video.
Sonny makes an effort, but Miguel just sulks, till approached directly,
when he gets rude again. Brenda stops the Spanish. Sonny asserts that
"Miguel needs to learn to stick to what he does best, singing.
Every time he opens his big yap, he makes a mess of it." Furious, Miguel
storms out. Luke and Mike are happy no one has (yet) pulled a knife.
Luke suggests to Brenda that maybe diplomacy is not her strong suit.
[I saw still another hopeful sign in the current SOD. They were
praising the Latino storylines and mentioned that "many GH viewers have
not yet related to the Miguel-Lily storyline, but GH is committed."
This, unlike the earlier "isn't he wonderful, everyone loves him"
articles again shows some trouble in paradise, and maybe yet they will
discover a Latino Garcia.]

JERK TWO:
Tom. Sorry, Tom-lovers. [Though I think Matthew Ashford looks like
being an asset to the show, Tom is a number-one A-word.] Simone comes to
the Hardy's. Audrey lets her in and flutters about telling how great it
is that Tom is home, how good for Simone and Tommy. Tom comes in.
Audrey continues to flutter till Tom claims to hear the buzzer for the
cookies, and Audrey has already burnt a batch this morning. (Aw, C'mon,
this is NOT Alzheimer's!) Simone is furious, to Tom's surprise. She
compares his waltzing in and out of their lives to Frisco Jones. She's
seen what that does to Maxie, and she wants better for Tommy. "Just tell
me what you want", Tom smugly says. "I want you to get back on a plane
to Africa before Tommy knows you're here." "You're stuck with me, and so
it Tommy." Simone storms out, and goes to see Justus. Justus wonders if
her rage is because of unresolved feelings for Tom, but Simone assures
him that all her feelings are quite resolved, thank you, and they kiss.
Steve comes downstairs and sees Tom, and agrees with Simone. Tom
complains that "The prodigal son got a party and a fatted calf, and all I
get is a lecture." Steve asserts he deserves it.

THE TEAR-JERKER
This one is hard. My Mom died 4 years ago and this storyline is
bringing a lot of it back. Emily is singing "Hush little baby" to Page
while Monica dances attendence and Alan hovers in the doorway. Page's
blood pressure is down and her pulse is slowing, but this is a soap
opera, so she isn't just going to drift off, we all know it. Alan heads
downstairs and Bobbie comes in and finds out about the wedding. They go
out to the rose garden and walk around and Bobbie says that Alan is quite
reassuring. Alan says he doesn't want to be reassuring, "couldn't I be
dashing and mysterious?" Bobbie, of course, talks about herself and Tony.
She is reminded of toddlers in a sandbox, playing "together" but really
apart. Alan suggests it's time she get physical and she admits she tried
that. Alan says he isn't getting any either.
Page wakes. She doesn't want too much morphine because she wants
to stay awake for Emily. She tells Emily that it's OK when Emily starts
to forget her, or stops feeling sad. Emily sends Monica out of the
room. She tells Page it's OK for her to die. Page tells her to give
Monica a chance.
Monica comes to the rose garden and remembers last fall, with
Tiffany, when she, Monica, didn't think she'd see the roses again (get
out the hankies, I'd forgotten that, and blubbering away!) She chats
with Alan and Bobbie for a little while, then heads up to her patient
again.

What a downer of a day! It's what I get for getting the wedding last week.
Sure hope NEXT Thursday is more cheerful!!
