                           General Hospital Update
                              Tues May 30, 1995
Now this is more like it!

On the Love Boat, everyone is having a grand old time when all of the sudden
there is a sharp lurch and roll. EdQ calls down to the captain who tells him
that the boat has hit some Coney Island(?) rocks. EdQ makes a preliminary
announcement and then goes down to check the hull with the captain, along
with Ned and Allan, leaving Carmine in charge of crowd control. AJ tells
Jason to make sure Lila gets out. People start getting excited, Lois' twin
nephews start chanting "We're going to sink"; Sonny, after several people
mention lifevests, goes to look for life preservers parphanella and Emily
says 'Wow, wait till I tell Mom about this'.

Well, Mom (Paige) is being driven to the hospital by Monica. Once there
Monica, who knows what the prognosis and diagnosis is all too well, wants to
hear from the cancer doc what the story is. Doc says xrays will show chest
getting past point of no return and life span is now in days. They check
Paige in and Monica gets the fears confirmed. She gets Paige to sign the
paper saying no extraordinary means. Bobi comes by and hangs around to help
out Paige and Monica. The doctor signs Paige out and tells Monica that
there's no need to skimp on the morphine. Paige is going back to the Q
mansion to die.

Luke, taking & looking for an early night, walks into the Brownstone and sees
Tony having a chips and salsa dinner with wine. He asks where Bobi is, Tony
tells him she is attending a demonstration of surgical procedure trainings
via a virtual reality program. They have a serious conversation about the
states of their psyches and marriages. Luke hypothsizes that marriage is
floating downstream in a leaky boat and if you get it just right, you realize
that there is no one else you want to be bailing with. Luke allows how he and
Bobi are pretty much the same, always rushing to look over the next hill and
unable to make long term changes in their characters. Tony says he still
isn't ready to re-unite, Luke says he will give Laura some time but then he
is going to come after her strong.

Q's and the captain look at the damage, it is bad. The flooding is over
taking the blilge pumps. The captain decides to pull off the rocks and make a
run for Sheepshead Bay. They decide to start baleing water so go upstairs to
get a dozen people to form a brigade. The CoastGuard has been informed that
there might be people needing assistance in managing NY Harbor. In the
maentime, Carmine gets the band to start playing some dancing music to
relieve the tension [Question: Who is this Grace that Mrs Cirello gave the
champagne to?]. Just then the boat lurches and EdQ comes in to tell people
what is happening and to get the bailers. Mac, Kevin, Justus, Sonny, Lois,
Ned, Brenda, McUgly, AJ, Keisha and Lilly (somewhere Jason got into this).
EdQ and Alan are both forced to stay up, due to health reasons. As the porter
and Reginald hand out the life vests, EdQ suggest playing 'Nearer to Thee'.
Alan doesn't think it is such a good idea to play "The Titanic" song, but
Reginald says that the song actually played was "Autumn". Carmine confirms
this and EdQ asks them how do they know, where they there. Reginald says -
                        L I N E O F T H E D A Y
"I'm somewhat of a maritime disasters buff." [hint: think bud bowl]
Turns out that Carmine is also. EdQ just mutters about reviosinist history.
Lilla thinks singing would be a great idea, and a great dis-chorus begins
when the band starts "Michael rode a boat ashore". EdQ orders MayMae to stand
up to the mike, which she does good-humordly (yes, lieutenant) and starts
"Neither to Thee", eventually the others join in. The bailers split into 2
groups to bail buckets: the engine room and above deck. Both groups can hear
the chorus. Lois quotes book and page number about how "Autumn" was the
actual song. The chorus finishes and Mac starts "99 buckets on the wall".

Needless to say, they make it to Sheepshead Bay. Everyone comes back up and
starts chattering. Kevin says he could go for dry clothes and a warm bath.
Mac says he hopes Kevin didn't mean in that order; Kevin - "I've been known
to deviate." :) Brenda once again acts like a jerk towards Lilly and Sonny
just gives Brenda a look of "Just what the hell is your problem exactly."
Everyone gets off to head to their respectives domiciles for the night, Ned
promises Lois eternal devotion.

Lois and Mom share a tender moment and pasta in Lois' old room. They
reminisce about major events that occured when Lois was 12, a sophmore and a
senior in high school. The guys invade Ned's room with hard drink and plenty
of videos about shipwrecks and one which the clerk gave them by mistake.
