                      Tuesday, May 9, 1995

by Rika, substitute updater. This is my first update, so if I got anything
wrong, please be gentle! I'm sorry this is a little late - I was out of town
yesterday and was only reunited with my VCR this evening.

Today's storylines:
I. Romeo and Juliet - It Begins
II. Lucy Prepares to Walk the Plank
III. Back in the Saddle Again
IV. AJ Should Have Called Alice

Romeo and Juliet - It Begins
-----------------------------
Stone arrived for his appointment with a sad, pensive Kevin. Stone asked
about his blood tests. We were not shown Kevin's answer, but when we
returned to their scene, Kevin was closing the file of test results, and Stone
was fighting back tears and insisting that it couldn't be. Kevin insisted that
the tests were accurate - he had them run three times. Kevin offered to
make Stone an appointment with a doctor at GH, but Stone said no, he
doesn't want anyone to know. Kevin reluctantly asked, "What about
Robin?" Stone, in utter horror, cried, "Oh, God!" and ran out.

Later, Stone came into Luke's club looking for Sonny. Luke had not seen
him yet, but pointed out that Sonny was at the hospital most of the night.
Luke asked Stone to keep a lookout for trouble with Scully's goons.

Stone next appeared at the Scorpio residence. Robin asked what was
wrong, and Stone started to leave, saying he shouldn't have come, but
Robin stopped him and more or less dragged him inside. Stone started to
try to tell her, but could not find the words. Robin told him that she has
been worried about him with all the trouble going on, and doesn't know
what she would do without him: she would die. Stone said, "Don't say
that!", but Robin insisted that it is true. But, she continued, he is safe.
Poor Stone, unnerved by what she said, pulled away from her and said that
it was a mistake to come to her - she will not understand, and he cannot tell
her. He ran out of the house just as Mac arrived.

Robin told Mac about Stone's behavior. She was upset that he is shutting
her out - aren't they supposed to share everything? Mac, in an amazing
display of sensitivity, told Robin to go after Stone ("No one walks out on
a Scorpio.") He added that either Stone will tell her, or else if he won't,
she will find out that Stone is not the person she thought he was [well,
okay, that sounds more like Mac's usual line about Stone]. Robin thanked
Mac for being an all-around wonderful guy and headed off to find Stone.
Mac, sitting alone, asked himself, "What am I doing?" [Just wait till you
find out the rest, Mac, and then we'll see just what you are made of......]

Meanwhile, Stone returned to Luke's. Robin arrived and begged Stone to
let her help him. He said that nobody could help him, and that she should
go away and leave him alone. Robin, stunned by this, hugged Stone and
said that she loved him. Stone pushed her away, shouting for her to leave
him alone - she should go far away, and then ran out of the club, leaving
Robin and Luke to look at each other, shell-shocked.

Lucy Prepares to Walk the Plank
--------------------------------
Lucy and Ned were in Lucy's office at Deception. Ned wanted to hear the
details of recent events. Lucy explained her shipping problems and how
Scully and Damian were involved. Ned brought up the drugs. Lucy gave
the sanitized public version of the sting - Scully stole the trucks to
transport his drugs. She had no knowledge of drugs or secret shipments,
and is the innocent victim of a master criminal. Ned then asked about the
kidnapping, and Lucy, after attempting (without success) a joke about
setting it up herself due to her fondness for being in bondage, said it was
intended to keep her from testifying against Scully. Ned asked why Scully
didn't just kill her, and she explained that Scully wanted to know who else
was involved, which led to a discussion of Luke and Sonny. Lucy insisted
that they were not involved in any wrongdoing.

Ned asked why Lucy has to make everything so hard. [Have an Akavit
with Kevin some night, Ned; you two could have a fascinating discussion
about All Things Lucy!] Lucy said she is just trying to run her business,
but Ned's ex-wife and his ex-friend insist on vendettas against her. She
begged him not to take Deception away, and he admitted that what she
described sounded like Scully. But she will still have to make a formal
report to the board, which Lucy said was no problem. Ned pointed out
that Edward would have a lot of questions, and a lot less patience, and
that if she goes down, she is going down alone. On that cheerful note,
he departed, and Lucy (after having a minor fit), calmed herself, collected
her things, and then ran out the door whimpering.

Lucy, glad to find Kevin alone in his office, said she needed his help. The
file containing Stone's blood tests was still sitting front and center on
Kevin's desk, and Kevin was distracted and subdued, but he made an effort
to listen to Lucy. She began with some hyperbolic descriptions of what
she is facing (gangplanks, hot coals, or a high wire). Kevin got the Line of
the Day: "Lucy, is it the circus, Calcutta, or Pirate's Cove? You have to
decide." She explained about the ELQ board meeting. Kevin commented
that the board meeting was much less dangerous than what she had been
dealing with lately. Lucy explained that the board can take Deception
away from her, and Kevin pointed out at least they can't kill her. Lucy said
it was the same thing to her, and Kevin replied, "Not to me."

Lucy was particularly worried about Katybell being at the meeting. What if
Katybell suspects what really happened, and she says something in front
of Edward? Kevin pointed out that the Peroxide Piranha can't reveal much,
because she would incriminate herself. But Lucy was worried about Katy
using hints and innuendo instead. Lucy, annoyed by Kevin's apparent lack
of sympathy, said that she was going to go have it out with the P.P. Kevin,
having drifted off into his own thoughts, was not listening, or else he would
certainly have pointed out that it is not very smart to advertise your
weaknesses to your enemy. He returned to consciousness just in time to
approve the idea (having no idea what he was endorsing), and Lucy, noting
his distraction, asked if she had competition. Kevin: "Yes.... a patient."

[WARNING - This scene contains material some people have found offensive.
But it was not as bad as the oysters scene at the Outback.] Boris and Natasha,
who apparently never change out of their nightclothes except to go out to eat,
were in bathrobes. Natasha's was very short. She was salivating over bringing
AJ down, and she fed Boris a strawberry. Then Lucy arrived, which may have
saved
us from more eating scenes.

Lucy told them about the board meeting. Katy and Lucy exchanged insults
and threats. [I wanted to FF through this scene, which has never happened
to me in a Lucy scene before. But I had responsibilities, so I sat through it.
Twice.] Damian didn't say much, but he cuddled up to Katybell while she
and Lucy snarled and hissed. After Lucy left, Katy smirked and said that
she has something to live for. Damian answered with a weak smile that
gave way to a very thoughtful, even concerned, look. Hmm.......

Katy poured champagne to celebrate. She was so pleased to be controlling
her own life after spending so much time being at the beck and call of other
people. [Does that mean she has been a "beck and call girl"?] She laughed
at Lucy's lack of sense in giving them advance warning so they can plan
something [and I'm with Katybell on this one. What is this? "MDP - the
Sequel"?]. Damian, suggesting that they not push Lucy too far, advised
prudence. Hmm..... Katybell: "Ah - my middle name." Yeah, right.

Back in the Saddle Again (No, this is not at Nedly fantasy scene)
-------------------------
Monica and Alan, in the Q living room, discussed Mike's complications and
the bypass surgery. Alan was solicitous, saying he is trying not to hover
[gee, isn't Felicia's place the designated location for men who want to
hover in Port Charles?], but finds it very hard. He is worried that she is
overdoing it when she just got back on her feet. Monica admitted that she
is tired, but she feels great inside. He says she looks a little wiped out this
morning, and Monica agrees that she looks bad [was anybody else thinking,
"Gee, I wish *I* looked that good when I was wiped out?"], but she is
happy. She loved being back in surgery. She had missed the "in-control"
feeling of saving lives and making decisions. Alan was still worried that
she will overdo, but Monica agreed to eat something and then take a nap.

Monica asked what Page and Alan discussed last night after she left. Alan
admitted that they talked about her, and described their conversation. Alan
said that last night he thought what a gift Page has been for both of them.
Monica was touched by this and thanked him.

Later, Ned was in the living room and Monica entered. [I was thrilled to
get a Ned/Monica scene. I LOVE Ned/Monica scenes! Monica brings out
a wonderful warmth and empathy in Ned.] Before she entered, Ned looked
tired and worried, but when Monica came in the room, he gave her a
cheerful, energetic greeting, congratulated her on the surgery and asked
how she felt. She said she felt that her old life was back. Ned advised her
to take things slowly, and she remarked that she would never again take
her profession for granted. She said she feels in charge of her life again,
but wishes Page had the same options. Ned praised her for what she is
doing for Emily, and said he was proud to be in some small way a part of
it. Monica was naturally very pleased at this remark.

Ned then told her about the upcoming ELQ board meeting. At first,
Monica begged off, but once she heard about Lucy's recent escapades,
she changed her mind and said she would be there.

AJ Should Have Called Alice
----------------------------
AJ placed a call to Chester, one of ELQ's accountants who is helping with
the grant application. AJ asked if it is legal (originally he said legitimate,
and Chester questioned the word) to claim the property donated to the
Foundation at its purchase price instead of its fair market value (which is
lower). Since this will be used as a basis for the size of the matching grant,
it makes a difference. Chester assured him that it is absolutely legal,
proving that ELQ should hire our very own Alice as its accountant,
because she knows a lot more about this stuff than Chester! AJ, to his
credit, pressed Chester a little harder, asking if there are any ethical
considerations. Chester said, since the grant application never asked
about fair market value, why bring it up? [Is Damian paying Chester to
purposely give AJ bad advice?]

AJ then gave Edward the application for his signature, crowing about the
grant money. Edward congratulated him, praised him, and they just had
a fabulous time until Ned walked in. Ned tried to offer some advice about
public relations, but Edward insisted that AJ can handle things.

The End!

Rika, she of the exhausted fingers.....
