Date: Sun, 9 Apr 1995 18:24:57 CDT From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 04/07/95 GH Update for 04/07/95 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 Mae Mae questions Keesha and Jason about their plans to go to Paris. Scene 2 Lucy "The Lady in Red" Coe chats with Luke about how she's going to use tears to snag the nefarious Joe Scully. Scene 3 Gloria and Carmine Capulet arrive at the Montague's for dinner. Romeo and Juliet Ashton introduce them all around with growing apprehension. Scene 4 Later, in the guest room, Gloria admires the decor, while Carmine is resolutely unimpressed and critical. Scene 5 Alan and Monica discuss Paige's declining health and Emily. Monica continues to be difficult, argumentative, and highly protective of Paige. Scene 6 Keesha babbles fast to try to convince Mae Mae about the feasibility of their trip. When asked her opinion, Mae Mae replies sternly "Don't ask unless you really want to know." Scene 7 Lucy begs Luke to let her tell Kevin about their plans, but he gives her an emphatic no saying he hasn't even told Laura the details. As Joe arrives, Lucy begins her desperate woman performance. Scene 8 With Sonny and Luke watching anxiously, Lucy starts working on Joe with her tale of woe about Deception. She hints at another large expensive shipment on order. Unfortunately, Brenda [true to form] interrupts at a crucial moment and hangs all over Joe. Scene 9 When Keesha and Jason naively insist they are interested in her opinion, Mae Mae begins her downbeat message about the cost of the trip, etc. Conveniently, Jason suddenly remembers his family's dinner plans and splits quickly leaving Keesha to endure Mae Mae's droning. Scene 10 The Montagues plot dinner conversation strategies before the Capulets come down. Scene 11 As conversation over cocktails proceeds, Edward and Carmine seem drawn into endless squabbles about taxes, immigration, and business. Meanwhile, everyone else tries to constantly change the subjects. Eventually, dinner is announced. Scene 12 Lucy desperately signals Sonny to come retrieve his Significant Bother, which he does tactfully. Unfortunately, Brenda becomes suspicious of Lucy's involvement with Joe. Sonny tells her not to ask questions and that it's not necessary she know what Lucy's doing. Predictably, Brenda starts pouting and stalks off in a huff [don't go away angry Bren, just go away]. Scene 13 Over dinner things are going much better as Monica gets the conversation turned to opera which seems to appeal to everyone. However, when Carmine asks Romeo how his two job career is going, Edward stifles a negative comment. Carmine tells how he used to play in band at night and always felt he benefited from the experience. At that point, Edward starts to vigorously interject; however, he is abruptly stilled by a searing look from Lila. Scene 14 Mae Mae asks Keesha if she plans to exchange bodily fluids with Jason in Paris. Keesha tells her most likely. Besides, she says, "It's not like I'm just picking up some sailor in a blues bar and getting knocked up. Oops, sorry, no offense meant." Mae Mae suggests strongly that she tell her parents about the trip before rather than after. Keesha says she plans to take Jason home to Philly to tell them together. Mae Mae shakes her head and rolls her eyes a bit giving a "Child, what could you be thinking" look. Scene 15 Back at the Montague's, initially a discussion of baseball looks promising, but it degenerates into a spat between Edward and Carmine over the Yankees versus the Mets. After reviewing the substantial plans for sightseeing, and despite glares from both Edward and Carmine, Lila convinces Gloria to accept an invitation to stay another day. Scene 16 Joe suggests that Lucy have her shipment switch trucks before it gets to Chicago just for safety. When she fawns over the suggestion, he takes the opportunity to offer to take her home obviously with a little latexed lunging in mind. Lucy deftly begs off saying she's in the mood for crowds and is going stick around Luke's for the evening. After Joe leaves, with Brenda glaring on from afar, Lucy tells Sonny and Luke about his trucking suggestion [and the other rhyming one]. Scene 17 Lila chews out Edward for his behavior at dinner. She insists he try harder to get along for Romeo's and Juliet's sake. Scene 18 In their room, Carmine rants about Edward. Gloria promises him a sensual soak in the hot tub if he behaves himself. Scene 19 Juliet recaps the evening and prays for the strength to endure another 24 hours.
