Daily Updates
Date: Sun, 19 Feb 1995 00:10:16 CST From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 02/17/95 GH Update for 02/17/95 By John R. Andrews, UIC NOTE: In the future, Monday and Friday updates will be posted ONLY to newsgroup rec.arts.tv.soaps.abc. Scene 1 Luke checks his piece [his gun, of course, gutter mind] as he and Sonny discuss Luke's upcoming meeting with Joe Scully. Scene 2 Joe and one of his goons talk briefly about luring Sean into a setup. Scene 3 At the Ward house, Lucky banters with Mae Mae about his mother. First Lily then Justus drops in. When Simone, who was checking out some of the kids, tries to leave, her car battery is dead [like this scene's dialog]. Scene 4 Justus offers Simone a ride home. Mae Mae asks her about Tom whose return is overdue; she says he's expected at any minute [Western Union couldn't have telegraphed what's going to happen more blatantly]. Scene 5 When Lily offers to volunteer at the Bradley Ward house, Mae Mae accepts readily. Lily then proceeds to spill her guts about Juan and Miguel. Scene 6 Sonny tells his father Luke's walking into trouble, but when Mike tries to offer his help, Sonny rebuffs him angrily, ragging on him about the past and his treatment of Sonny's mother. Mike asks for another chance, but Sonny says no [Think Mike is going to bite the dust saving Sonny? Or maybe Mike can take Joe Scully out.] Scene 7 At Simone's place, Justus schmoozes her offering to chauffeur her around while her car is being fixed. She then invites him to stay for dinner [telegraph heard in the background]. Scene 8 Luke arrives at the No Name Supper Club to meet Scully. The cops outside immediately call Sean who slips on his shooter for the show down at the No Name Corral. Scene 9 In a good scene, Joe offers the slightly hostile Luke a seat. Joe begins by discussing Sonny. Luke says Sonny must decide what's important to Sonny. Joe tells him that Sonny is too soft to run the business, and he's going to get killed. Luke says he's only interested in his club and will probably buy Sonny out soon so he can be out of Sonny's business totally. Scully replies in a not very veiled threat that Luke is naive to think he will ever be out of it knowing what he knows. Scene 10 Sean, Garcia, and his two undercover officers huddle around a burning trash can waiting for Luke to come out and singing "Nobody knows the trouble I've seen." Scene 11 In an unbelievably distasteful scene, Lily visits Miguel in his room excited to tell him she's going to work at the Ward house. Suddenly, she blurts out, "I don't want to wait; make love to me now this minute." [I can't believe the actress could even utter those lines] Miguel balks at the idea [oh, puuuullllleeeezzzzeee], but she says she was wrong in wanting to wait. [don't wait. Just find someone else]. Scene 12 Simone serves up a little wine before dinner. They touch on the subject of Tom. She says he's on his way [di-di-di-da-da-da-di-di-di]. After a bit, Simone finally admits that Tom and she have some things to work out and maybe a change is needed. Scene 13 Joe tells Luke that ordinarily when someone like Luke is around who knows what Luke knows and is as hostile as Luke is, he'd be making plans already to eliminate the problem. Eventually, Joe comes to the point. He wants Luke to stay out of Sonny's and his business, and also he wants Luke to pay him 10% of the club's profits. Luke tells him he won't pay protection to anyone; so shove off. After Luke leaves, Joe's goon tells Joe that Sean is in the parking lot. Scully smilingly tells him, "You know what to do." Scene 14 Simone and Justus do a bit of semi-flirting as Justus does a pseudo-Dad number playing with Simone's kid. Scene 15 Lily continues to beg Miguel to play matador and show her some of his sword work, but he tells her it's only about Juan not them. She is incredulous and tries to excite him with a medley of songs from West Side Story. Scene 16 As Luke walks to his car, Sean waits in the dark nearby. Suddenly, we see a figure point a silencer-equipped pistol. Scene 17 Lily finally gets mucho PO'd at her Lacking Latin and leaves saying she's got a lot to think about [like where to get some Energizers real quick]. Scene 18 As Justus and Simone play with Tom Jr. making like a happy family, guess who should walk in [funny he still has his key] but Tom Sr. Though Simone greets him affectionately, he seems a bit taken aback by the scene. Scene 19 As Luke stands by his car, a shot is fired; Sean immediately jumps up to return fire. Unfortunately, so does Luke whose shot strikes Sean in the head. Luke rushes to him. "What are you doing here?" Luke asks unbelievingly. "Dying, I think," Sean weakly replies before losing consciousness. [Though I reran this several times, I couldn't really decide whether Luke shot Sean thinking he was the gunman, or Sean just got caught in the crossfire. Since Sean had his back to Luke, it seemed unlikely Luke would shoot someone intentionally in the back.]
