From: jyarnot@netcom.com (Jan Yarnot) Subject: GH: Update Thursday February 16, 1995 Date: Thu, 16 Feb 1995 23:52:12 GMT Robin has come down with the "flu" from Sonny. Mac and Sean discuss Evil Joe Scully. And Mac congratulates Sean at the same time Luke congratulates Tiff, who wishes Laura were there. Brenda burbles over to the gatehouse to work on Ick-L's video, when to my great relief Lois says she's realized a serious omission on Brenda's part and they need to address it right away. What Lois wants is an old-fashioned girl-gossip session about Valentine's Day, who gave whom what and how it went. Mostly she wants to show off her ring. Brenda says everything is fine with her except Sonny does keep getting distracted. Lois is afraid of wealth and unsure about Quartermaines. Brenda assures her she'll get used to them, and that Lila never says a bad word about her (unlike Katybelle.) Lois asks "How do you get used to a family full of blackmailers and murderers? and Brenda corrects her "ALLEGED murderers!" Lois points out that as families go, Bren has no basis for comparison but she, Lois, has. Luke is throwing his weight around, and why he thinks he has any escapes me. Sonny must choose. Sonny goes to Joe's (Joe has just set up to harass Miss Lucy for Damian, who has a snide smile.) Sonny says "no", that Joe has the prostitution, the pornography and the drugs, and Sonny's kinder gentler mob will do everything else (what, protection? Numbers? Gambling?) Sonny has made a new life for himself and wants to keep it. Joe does not take this well. Sonny reports to Luke, who demands (where *does* he get this chutzpah?) to know what he owes to Joe. Turns out that when Deke (the abusive cop stepdad) beat Ma to within an inch of her life, Joe took care of him. Luke does understand that this means Joe is dangerous. Joe, meanwhile, is setting up to take care of Luke and Sean with his goons, and I was pleased NOT to see Harry among them. Joe makes an appointment with Luke for dinner at the NoName tomorrow night. Lucy is not having fun, as her supply of essences is lost in shipment. Kevin comes by for lunch but ends up sharing doughnuts with Sigmund the duck, who quacks up at his not-Ryan quality puns. "Having trouble with your essences?" "I can see that it's of the essence." Lucy finally gets the promise of a new Air Express shipment from France within a week, and toasts her success with (sparkling) water, which Kevin warns her is bad luck. Sure enough, now her shipments out are getting lost. Kevin's plans are not working out, but Ryan is doing better. He wakes up to find Connie hovering. He had, he tells her, let his guard down and been attacked while cleaning the latrine. He might as well be dead, and he extracts a promise from Connie, oh-so-very-gullible Connie, to help him, I think with "suicide drugs." Uh-huh. Dr. Hamilton comes in to examine Ryan, and Miss Brooklyn Bridge Owner leaves. -- Jan Yarnot, net.granny, RABbabe | Apples and oranges are a different jyarnot@netcom.com | kettle of fish.
