From: jyarnot@netcom.com (Jan Yarnot) Subject: GH: Update Thursday Feb. 2, 1995 Date: Fri, 3 Feb 1995 00:17:13 GMT Another Couples Thursday in Port Chuck. The two little tidbits that weren't couples were Stone's persistent flu (so, if he's HIV+, one assumes from his girlfriend who died of an overdose or who Sonny iced back a year or two ago?) and Mike and Luke bonding, in their own ne'er-do-well way. 1. Ned and Lois. Coming back in the van from a concert, and Lois admits that punching KatyBelle had a certain liberating quality: "Socking Katy was a real eye-opener for me. . . Definitely satisfying not to mention childish and undignified. But it was worth it." She feels like she's taking control again. Katy's face had started to grow and it was like bopping a toy clown. Ned wants to know if he's in the new chapter of Lois' life. She doesn't know yet, she's still at the chapter title. The strains of "Home on the Range" fill the van and it turns out that Lois shares with Lila a love for Gene Autry. Lois recalls a childhood that fits better with her parents or me, not with the contemporary of my kids she is, Saturday morning matinees at the Roxie, with three cartoons and a serial. Methinks the writers were waxing nostalgic for their own childhoods. At the gatehouse, no Brenda. Ned wants to take advantage of this and Lois unpacks. Then he convinces her, and she heads into the bathroom, he sweeps clothing off the bed, leaves a "You are entering the Reconciliation Zone" note on the door, and forgets entirely his time with Jenny, when he was dreaming of Julia, and later when he was torturing Jenny like a real spoiled brat (I met Ned at a particularly bad time in his storyline, but my impressions are formed.) Lois panics and locks the door. Ned tells her "I'm terrified too." He holds his hand on the door and restates his marriage vows (using his real name!), adding "I will never lie to you (knowingly), I will never violate your trust, I will spend the rest of my days proving my love in a dazzling variety of ways to make your head spin." Lois: "just keep talking, OK?" (as if he could say any more.) He suggests three possibilities: she could stay in the bathroom and sleep in the tub, he could leave, or they could take advantage of the situation. She comes out. Later, Ned is fantasizing a scene of "Back in the Saddle Again" (is it my imagination, or are soaps getting more daring?) which is hilarious. 2. Lily and Miguel. Lily wants to go back to see Juan, to let him and the Santiagos know they are there for him. She has a bad dream. Yawn. 3. Brenda and Sonny. I like Brenda's outfit today. Much nicer than the stuff she normally wears, but I digress. She is still jealous.. why can you feel comfortable discussing this with Lily? Sonny says "I obviously feel free NOT to discuss my feelings with Lily." But he makes the effort and tells Brenda stuff. Brenda also talks about her Dad. Then Sonny goes into repressing his feelings mode (I see him and Bobbie sharing their breakdowns, at this rate!) and says he doesn't need to think about Mike, he has Brenda. It's either Spring, or Sweeps. -- Jan Yarnot, net.granny, RABbabe | Apples and oranges are a different jyarnot@netcom.com | kettle of fish.
