MIKE WHEELS & DEALS
Luke and Mike are dealing with paperwork at Luke's when Stone comes
in and remarks that they should have the inventory on computer. Mac
does, and maybe he will lend it to Luke. Luke calls Mac, who points out
the copyright laws, then once Luke promises to buy his own copy, says
sure. Mike will go. Mike introduces himself to Mac and sweettalks
Robin. He asks Robin to come back to Luke's with him, but R. decides
against another confrontation with Uncle Mac at this time and pleads
a French assignment. Lois burbles in to unload the equipment, and
Mike is very impressed till Mac warns him off. Sean comes in and Mike
is cordial, but leaves, stiffing Mac for his burger and brew on the
way out. Outside, the opportunity to steal the Idle Rich speakers
presents itself, and Mike never is one to let opportunity knock
twice. He takes them to Luke and claims to have gotten them at a
garage sale for $500. Luke, the big lug, is thrilled.
Later, Luke is having trouble with the software and asks Lucky
for help. Lucky suggests "you could always give up and read the manual"
but Luke doesn't want to admit defeat. Lucky discovers that the software
calls up an antique printer: Luke asks "who still has an old-fashioned
tractor feed" and I raise my hand... Lucky, Foster and Mike go off to
Second Chance Computer, which is full of nifty stuff from way back in the '80s.
Mac asks Sean about Joe Scully, Sonny's "godfather." Lois is
blaming herself (annoying me: you'd think the victim was responsible...)
and Sonny comes in and forks over money to buy new, better speakers.
(They weren't insured, either, which Lois *should* feel bad about!)
Mac asks if he should carry that much cash. Later, he pumps Lois about
Sonny's finances.
Sonny walks into Lukes and spies the speakers. "Where the hell
did you get these?"

JUSTUS AND THE OLD BUZZARD
A.J., Edward, and Justus are meeting at the Quartermaines. Edward always
thought a little scrapping was a good thing, but lately he'd been accused
of fostering it. AJ and Justus bristle at each other. AJ wants to
plow profits back into the business, and Justus wants them put into
good works. Edward proposes a compromise: a certain amount into the
business and then they'll fund the school. Both boys agree. Reginald,
back from his desert island at last, announces Sean, who is returning
the Lugers of Edward's.
Edward is horrified. Only lives are precious, guns aren't, and
he wants his whole collection boxed and auctioned. The proceeds will
go to the Bradley Ward House. Justus has a contemplative look on his face
as he leaves.
Justus reports to MaryMae: "just when I think I have the old buzzard
figured out, he pulls a fast one on me." He tells her about the meeting,
with all on their best behavior, "AJ keeping his mogul mania down."
Mary Mae is not surprised that Edward is human.

BOBBIE IS LOSING IT
Bobbie and Alan meet at the hospital and Bobbie is still frantic. This
is one sick woman! Alan asks "does it have anything to do with you
lighting into Lucy?" Later: "Do you have any idea how bitter you're
beginning to sound?" Bobbie goes on about what she needs and I expect
Alan to ask "what if you need a little time in the loony bin?" but he's
far too professional for that. He calls her on creating a negative
attitude: "Put a sock in it! You're not communicating, you're having a
temper tantrum! . . . behaving like a 6-yr-old . . . Tony's not the
father you never had, the one who should have taught you that actions
have consequences. . . You slept with another man. It's irreversible."
Not, he hastens to assert, unforgivable. He compares her to Monica,
who doesn't have tantrums, but who has withdrawn. They make a date for
that evening to see Ned at the Outback. He promises her no more downhome
truths.

MONICA IS FINDING IT
Monica is feeling REALLY bad when Paige comes in. Monica suggests
that "Dr. Radcliffe is quite a hunk" and maybe she should borrow
Paige's wig next time she sees him, but really, she wants no help.
Paige lays a few home truths on her, about how much Paige wishes
her husband were there for her. Monica wants her space. Is it
space or distance, asks Paige.
Monica is listening to opera. She reaches for the phone but
doesn't complete the call. Then she dials again, and gets Alan. "It's
me." "And that would be...?" Monica is "crossing whole new frontiers
of crankiness." She hears the family news, though not
about Bobbie's tantrum, and then finally asks Alan to come. He knows
when the next plane is, I note. He tells her he can't come that night
because he has a date. "Redhead?" "Yes, but I prefer blondes." "You
better hurry, then." Prince Charming also tells Monica how he likes
his women bitchy. She'll fit right in.

I love this show.
