From: njs@lhdsy2.lahabra.chevron.com (N.J.Spera) Subject: GH: Update, Wednesday, January 18, 1995 Date: 19 Jan 95 17:05:01 GMT GENERAL HOSPITAL Wednesday, January 18, 1995 Today's Stories The Explanations An Inaugural Board Meeting A Little Friendly Advice The Explanations ---------------- Two bodyguards hover around the club while Sonny barks orders to have something done now to someone on the phone. Stone has been sweeping and when Sonny gets off the phone asks Sonny what's really been going on. Sonny informs Stone of the power struggle between him and Cusak after he warns Stone not to breathe a word to Robin. Sonny warns Stone to keep his eyes open but that this should blow over. Sonny heads off with his bodyguards. Meanwhile Robin arrives home from school and Mac presents her with the newspaper account of the firebombing and gunfire at the club. Robin is relieved to hear the time of the incident - Stone was in Buffalo with the Idle Rich. Mac is surprised Robin isn't more worried (or at least she doesn't show it) and questions Stone's involvement with Sonny. After voices are raised Mac and Robin decide to take a break from each other. Mac decides to visit Luke's on the way to the Outback "to see if he can help" but before he goes he wants Robin to think about about bombs and bullets, what one gets when one is a friend of Sonny's. Stone arrives to see Robin (and once again they break the rules while Mac is not there). Robin is relieved Stone is ok but gets worried when Stone says he wishes he had been there for Sonny. Robin doesn't quite buy that it's old business of Sonny's but Stone defends Sonny for having been there for Stone when no one else was. Robin refuses to ask Stone if he's in danger because she doesn't want him to lie to her. She remembers Duke lying to her mother when Robin was young. Stone claims he'll be ok and when he leaves he lets Robin know he won't be able to see her for a few days. Luke drops by Kelly's to let Ruby know about the damage and to ask her to keep Lucky and Foster. Ruby isn't surprised that Sonny was the target and offers her opinion that Sonny is trouble. She doesn't buy Sonny's story that it's old business and isn't pleased that Laura and LuLu had to leave for Beechers Corners. She'll take in Lucky and Foster, but only because she likes Lucky and Foster. She's not happy since she knows Luke will be unencumbered and be able to run with Sonny. Mac visits Luke's and offers his help. When Luke turns him down, he's insured, etc. Mac offers to help find out who is responsible. Luke doesn't want Mac's help and doesn't need answers. Mac doesn't buy that...or this isn't "Luke Spencer" and wonders if Luke really knows Sonny. That doesn't sit well with Luke and Luke likes it even less when Mac warns him Sonny is bad news and people are starting to ask questions. Mac claims it's because of Stone. Luke vows there is no danger...this despite Mac's observation that Laura and the baby have gone out of town. Luke claims it's just Sonny's past and talks Sonny's party line. Mac still doesn't buy it but now Luke wants to know for whom Mac is working. Mac claims it's just old habits since Robin has an obsession with Stone. He wants to make sure whatever Sonny's involved with won't bother Robin. Luke again toes the Sonny line. Mac doesn't have Luke's confidence when Luke is not about to question Sonny's motives. Mac finally leaves Luke to ponder the situation. Sonny arrives at the gatehouse with his bodyguards but when one wants to go inside they are directed to watch the car and the back of the house. Sonny doesn't want to scare the ladies. Once inside Brenda is glad to see him and that he's ok. So is Lois but she's in a panic and wants an explanation. That's fine with Sonny but when Ned pipes up that he's ready too Sonny tries to point out this is company business and not for the talent. Ned objects. Lois is his wife, even if they have problems, and L&B's headquarters is the gatehouse, Quartermaine property, so he's concerned and feels he should be included. Lois actually agrees and since it's ok with Brenda Sonny goes on with his explanation. Sonny spins a tale that he is legit and Cusak is going up against the person trying to take over Frank's business. According to Sonny's friend, ie, Harry, Sonny was a target because Sonny had prior knowledge of Frank's business. The look on Ned's face tells us he isn't buying this and points out that now Cusak is a target because he was associated with Sonny. Sonny doesn't like that and points out that Justus was attacked because Justus was against the incinerator...and Ned was associated with the incinerator. Point...Counterpoint. Lois questions if Cusak will be coming after Sonny. Sonny swears that Cusak is no threat and that all this will be over in a few days. Lois seems to be buying this but Ned sure isn't. Ned thanks Sonny for his candor and while he doesn't like Sonny's pass connections he does give Sonny credit for L&B. That gives Sonny the opening to switch the conversation to the Idle Rich tour. When Sonny goes to leave, he's got another meeting, he suggests that Brenda spend the night with Lois. Before he can get out the door Lois has something to say. Lois trusts Sonny and is counting on him not to let her down. Outside Sonny joins his bodyguard and Ned notices. When Brenda and Lois figure everything's ok, Ned points out the bodyguards...say the Line of the Day... "$20 says the bulge in the tall one's pocket isn't a lunch bucket" and just shakes his head. An Inaugural Board Meeting -------------------------- The Charles Street Development Foundation (CSDF) has it's first meeting as Justus'. The board members, Justus, Edward, Lee, AJ, Jason, Rev. Philips, Mr. Leeds, Simone Hardy, and Mary May introduce themselves. Keesha acts as transcriber until they open a bank account and hire a staff. Lee & Justus will draw up the non-profit incorporation papers as co-counsels. Edward explains the genesis of the foundation and that he, Lee, and AJ are deeding the Charles Street property they own over to ELQ for the foundation. Justus is then asked to offer his vision for the foundation. When Justus suggests opening a model elementary school and a medical clinic AJ thinks Justus is approaching it all wrong (thanks JoJo). He thinks the project is all about getting businesses going in the Charles Street area. Jason pipes up to defend Justus' vision. AJ is left alone to oppose their "bleeding heart approach." Edward proposes that AJ and Justus prepare written proposals for the next board meeting. With that Justus shows the board information the local S&L has provided about the folks in the area who borrow with no credit history. Turns out they end up being very good at repayment. AJ will look at the information. The meeting is adjourned and Simone offers Justus a ride and they head off to get coffee and some food. AJ's about out the door but Keesha goes after him to Jason's dismay. Keesha once again tries to be a bridge builder and suggests AJ lighten up. When AJ comments about Justus' being stiff the scene switches to Kelly's where Justus and Simone are laughing about AJ's lack of humor. Justus leaves for city hall leaving Simone to ponder. A Little Friendly Advice ------------------------ Alan and Tony encounter each other at GH where Alan tells Tony about his phone conversation with Monica. Alan lets Tony know that Bobbie talked to Monica as well as Bobbie had come over after the session with Kevin. Alan mentions he told Bobbie to "get over it" and Tony mentions he got the same advice from Laura. Tony has come to the realization that he's getting bored with himself. He's tired of banging his head against the wall. Alan suggests then maybe it's time to tear down the wall. Alan urges Tony to continue therapy, if only to put closure on this problem. Tony isn't sure he wants to reconcile but Alan points out that to get peace of mind Tony needs to continue therapy no matter whether or not Tony and Bobbie reconcile. Till Next Time -- Nancy J.
