Date: Tue, 17 Jan 1995 12:06:11 CST From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Mon 01/16/95 By: kathy%gundog@lbl.gov (Kathy Ellington) General Hospital Update for Monday, January 16 Monica Talks the Talk, but won't Walk the Walk ========================================================================= More weeping and gnashing of teeth for Doc Monica as she continues to try and adjust her attitude so she can fight the cancer. Her newfound friend at the clinic stops by and cheers her up; they grimly joke about losing their hair to chemotherapy. Monica admits she's worried that she won't be sexually attractive to Alan after all the therapy. Friend tries to draw Monica out some more, but the clam-like heart surgeon won't reveal herself. She does talk about her kids, though, and paints a glowing picture of Jason and A.J. Friend keeps probing and tries to get Monica to tell her who she REALLY is. They discover that both are horse-lovers and friend gets Monica to try some creative visualization involving horses [oh, baby!]. They make plans to visit a nearby stable to talk to their dumb chums. Friend pulls Monica out of her rut and insists they go CD-shopping at a nearby store. There, Monica can stock up on her favorite opera music and, maybe if they're lucky in the Oldies bin, the theme from Mr. Ed. Later on, Monica and friend dissolve in tears over listening to the sob song from La Boheme; Monica explains what's going on in the opera. It's just like what they're going through (only noisier) with an incurable disease, etc [methinks Monica should have stuck to musical comedy rather than tragic opera]. They agree that there's nothing like a good faucet-clearing cry to ream out the sinuses. Luke, Lucky, Laura - The family that ignites together, fights together! ========================================================================= Laura tries to run into the flaming club after Lucky; Luke goes instead [eek! Don't get that polyester hair too close to the flames!]. They manage to drag Lucky out of the building, sans Foster [is that one Hot Dog or what?]. Luke wonders aloud where Sonny is. Just then, the mini-mobster arrives with Foster wrapped in a blanket; he doesn't look too good. Luke and Sonny discuss who may have tried to kill them. Foster comes around slowly, coughing out great clouds of black smoke. Laura is concerned and demands of Sonny, "what the hell is going on?" Sonny admits that the firebombing/shootout could be Cusak's doing. Laura is totally bent out of shape and fires off several angry volleys of verbage at Sonny. When they are alone, Laura opens up on Luke about the danger to which Sonny has exposed them. Luke insists that this latest incident is simply the wrap-up after Frank's death. Laura, still angry and frightened, tells Luke that she will not tolerate more violence in their lives and wants Luke to sever the partnership with Sonny. Luke says he'll find a way to make peace that doesn't involve guns or danger. Through clenched teeth, Laura tells him he'd better figure it out soon. She announces that she's taking the baby and Lucky and leaving town until the danger has passed. She's heading off to Beecher's Corners. Lucky wants to stay with Luke, though, and argues for staying with Dad and Foster. Luke senses a family riot on his hands and tells them that they should sleep on any decisions. Lucky repeats firmly that he's not leaving. He's Got the Whole World in His Pants! (Eh-DEE!! Eh-DEE!! Eh-DEE!!) ========================================================================= At the Idle Rich concert, Brenda supervises Stone at the souvenir booth. They are inundated with screaming fans after the concert it's a total mob scene and everyone's throwing money at them! After the human flood ebbs, the gals are elated that all of the merchandise was snapped up by the Eddie's adoring groupies. Lois warns them to head for the hills at a dead run when all the tee-shirts and junk have been sold. Meanwhile outside, crazed fans are laying siege to the Idle Rich van. Lois tells Ned that he might have to temper his testosterone and stop whipping his fans into a sexual frenzy. "Get bent" Ned advises and says it feels good that someone is paying him some attention (hint, hint). Later on, Lois tells Ned that she's going to get rid of the leather pants and threatens to put him in red flannel. He reminisces about the first time he performed with the Idle Rich [not to mention the first time he performed with Lois!] and how Lois recruited him for the band and how much he loves Lois. She is thrown off-balance by Ned's tender, loving side. Their reverie is interrupted by Brenda and Stone hammering at the door and jabbering about how much money the geegaws made. Brenda quickly sees the "lay of the land" and splits with Stone. Ned continues his sweet talk to doll-baby then leaves her wanting more when he says he's too wired to sleep...he's going out to howl with the band. Lois looks wistful. Keesha Tries to Forge a Tentative Peace Between A.J. and Jason ============================================================================ Jason and Keesha talk to A.J. about Jason being on the board. Keesha tries to smooth things over between the brothers. A.J. is defensive, churlish, and sarcastic; clearly he is afraid of losing any of his emerging ELQ power to younger brother Jason. Keesha tries hard to mend fences and draw A.J. into the fold. She tells A.J. that he is a necessary part of the board and says that the Charles Street Foundation need his expertise. He grudgingly says he'll think about it. Jason takes Keesha home then returns to talk to A.J. They argue about Keesha and her motives; A.J. brings it up that he seems to be the bad guy in everybody's eyes while Jason is Mr. Perfect. A.J. accuses Jason of not wanting him on the board. He also ridicules Jason's feelings for Keesha. They get back to discussing the Charles Street Foundation. A.J. admits that it's okay if Jason is on the board, after all, Justus (not grandfather Edward) wanted Jason on the board. A.J. apologizes for being territorial about the Charles Street Foundation; Jason apologizes for being territorial about the Wards and Keesha. They kiss and make up [darn! no tongue]. end end send comments, questions, and flames to kathy%gundog@lbl.gov end
