From: jyarnot@netcom.com (Jan Yarnot) Subject: GH: Update Thurs Jan 5, 1995 Date: Fri, 6 Jan 1995 17:48:09 GMT THE ROAD TRIP FROM HELL True to her word, Lois has Ned on the run in Schenectady, starting with Perky Patty Peters and the 6AM talk show. Ned does admirably, showing his dimples. Perky Patty wants to know, like Lila, and like everyone else during the day, if that is really Ned in the leather pants. She kisses Ned, which doesn't go over well with Lois. Later, talking to Yet Another Reporter, Ned explains his Ned Ashton/Eddie Maine double life with the LINE OF THE DAY: "I guess One Life to Live just wasn't enough for me." On campus, the giggling girl reporters tell Ned that there's a thriving black market in concert tickets, one Idle Rich for two Governor Patakis! Lois is getting more and more concerned about the female adulation. Ned tells her public relations is his strong suit [So WHY did he end up with KatyBell?] George Z., a radio host cut from the same pattern as Chris of Northern Exposure, only not as charming, looks for the deep significance in the band's name, and in the leather pants. Ned proves he knows his Freud: "Sometimes a pair of pants is just a pair of pants." The concert features two songs "All the man you'll ever need" and "Love you so Strong." Tangy leaps onto the stage and grabs Ned, but Lois peels her off. Razz, meanwhile, is still "ooh"ing and "ah"ing in the front row. (actually, you two, I wondered if you were at this concert? Sorta thought you might be!) After the concert, Ned is psyched, talking sixteen to the dozen. Lois is asleep. Ned tucks her in. SONNY GETS THE SQUEEZE Sonny wakes up groggily to Brenda doing her 100 situps. "Feel my stomach!" Then she makes him breakfast in bed, but Sonny is not a morning person at least when it comes to talking or eating. Bed is for only one thing. Damian comes over. Brenda glares at him, "what are YOU doing here?" and off to work. Sonny reminds Damian that "You're not going to be a silent partner for long if you keep showing up here." They discuss money, and Luke appears. Hackles rise and Words are Exchanged. Damian suggests Luke should "stick to decaf: you're obviously stressed out." He leaves and Luke glares at Sonny. The partnership is over if Sonny is dealing with Damian. Can Sonny be trusted? Sonny says Damian was looking for where his dad stashed the money. Luke is ready to open the club. Later, Brenda comes home, exhausted from running L&B. She also wants to know why Damian was there and Sonny tells her the same story he told Luke. She plays "Road Less Travelled" till she sees the noise is annoying Sonny. She wants to talk. Sonny doesn't, but he says, grinning inanely "I *am* happy!" He just settles to work again when Brenda chirps "Let's redo the couch!!" COUNCILMAN WARD It's election day, and at campaign headquarters, we see the Wards and their friends. Justus is taking nothing for granted, but the first exit polls, in strong Blake country, look good. Luke warns Justus about the Quartermaines. They all, with the exception of Jason and possibly Lila, have ulterior motives. Especially watch out for Alan Jr. Tiffany comes in, and Justus announces that win or lose, there will be a fundraiser tomorrow night at the Outback. Later, Tiffany goes on the air to announce that Blake has "confeeded deceit" [nice touch, leaving this outtake in!] that is, "conceded defeat." Justus gives a nice little speech and Simone yearns after him with her eyes. (The Other Woman, Zanna, is standing with Mary Mae.)
