A Smooth Operator
-----------------
At the club Luke and Lucky are checking out the newly arrived glassware
[ok folks this guy just had a bullet pass through him a few weeks ago and
he's lifting boxes of glasses????] and discussing the probability of Annabelle
having Foster's puppies when a stranger enters and Foster goes into guard
dog mode. But before long the man has won Foster over amazing Lucky and
intriguing Luke. His name is Mike Corbin and he's heard Luke is opening a
new club and is interesting in a job. He claims to be able to do a little
of everything, cook, bartend, deal blackjack, and when asked where he's
been working lately says, The Rusty Grille in Corning, a name he just happens
to get from a box of matches on the bar. Corbin tries to sell Luke on
watering down drinks for the non-regulars but Luke doesn't buy it but does
say Corbin can hang around while Luke continues to work in the club. When
Corbin finds out Luke doesn't have dinnerware yet Corbin suggests Luke go
funky and get unmatched dinnerware. Corbin says he knows a distributer.
Luke's not quite sure but wonders when he could be supplied and will have to
see samples. Luke wants to know why Corbin is doing all this. Corbin claims
that if Luke thinks he's valuable enough Luke will hire Corbin. When Corbin
leaves Lucky comes out from the kitchen where he's been working and comments
that Corbin is cool. However, Luke picks up the box of matchs and calls
Corbin a very smooth operator. In a dark alley Corbin pulls up to a door
where a barking dog can be heard. Corbin unlocks the door, pulls out some
meat, cracks open the door and throws in the meat. The dog stops barking.
Corbin throws in another piece of meat and tells the dog to have a nice
nap. He walks in passed the dog, stretched out with glazed eyes. Sometime
later Corbin is showing Luke samples of dinnerware and claims to have
bought a wagonload. Luke is interested and the price is a "bargain." Luke
thinks it's too low but as long if he wants to add 5% commission for Corbin
it's a deal for Corbin. Luke will write a check to Corbin but will make no
other promises while keeping Corbin in mind. When Luke goes off to get the
check Corbin just smiles.

A Postcard from Camp
--------------------
Monica is saying goodbye to Annabelle in the Q's den, telling Annabelle to
watch over Lila, and to occasionally give Alan a big, sloppy kiss when in
comes Ned asking if she was planning on leaving without saying goodbye.
When she asks if he would be surprised if she says yes Ned concedes that he
wouldn't. Monica wonders why she can be so honest with him and Ned offers
it's because they know each other too well. Ned encourages her to get on
with her trip but also suggests that she not begrudge the men in her life
some anxiety. Monica doesn't but can't handle all the sympathy. Ned gives
her an encouraging hug as Alan, AJ and Jason come in with Alan asking if she's
ready to go to the airport. Monica responds "No!" She wants to say goodbye
at the house and to go to the airport alone. Alan and AJ press the issue
but Ned just looks on and before kissing Monica and leaving just tells her
to take care. Monica presses her case and Alan finally agrees. Monica gives
AJ a "mogul" pep talk and encourages Jason to have fun in addition to all his
studying and campaigning. She thanks Alan for loving her enough to give her
the strength to go on her own as they hug. With an urging to come home soon
Moncia heads out. AJ and Jason walk to the den door and watch her go but
Alan doesn't and just stares off into space. AJ can't understand why Monica
had to leave to get help. Alan tries to explain it but once again father and
son are at it when AJ accuses Alan of not being around when she needed him
and that's why Monica has to leave. Alan just leaves the room and AJ wonders
why they always end up like that. He leaves the room and a quiet Jason picks
up a family portrait and looks at it. Sometime later Monica arrives at her
first Wellness group meeting. After the psychiatrist who leads the group
tells about the purpose of the Wellness group a few of the members introduce
themselves. Monica seems ill at ease. She is asked to introduce herself
and says she's Dr. Monica Quatermaine, chief of cardiology at GH, Port
Charles, NY very matter of factly and tells how she learned of the group.
When asked to talk about her diagnosis she starts but asks if she can wait
It's a bit much for her and just wants to listen. One of the other members
figures correctly that Monica starts chemo the next day. When Monica has
returned to her room she makes a phone call but the phone on the other end
rings and rings and rings until an out-of-breath Ned, with a coat on, answers
the phone. Everyone else is out and Monica finds out Ned was on his way out.
When Ned can tell Monica is upset and he tells her to spill it. She's
overwhelmed, wonders if she didn't make a mistake and is ready to return
home. Ned suggests she hang in for a few days and give it a chance. Monica
is reminded of a similar pep talk she gave AJ when he was homesick at summer
camp and had convinced the counselors to let him call her. Ned gives her
encouragement and agrees not to tell Alan about Monica's call.

Good Morning, Therapy, & Drinks & Dinner
----------------------------------------
[K&L fans, you probably thought I'd never get here!] It's morning in the
lighthouse. Kevin awakens, moves strands of Lucy's hair from her face. Lucy
awakens, smiles and Kevin says "Good Morning." Lucy and Kevin discuss whether
it was worth waiting and Lucy, in Lucy's very own way, admits she is glad
they waited. Kevin admits the ghosts are gone which is exactly what Lucy
wants...no one else in bed with them. Kevin thanks Lucy for being good...
her tenacity...for pushing him to get past Grace. They agree it's going to
be fun but first they're going to have breakfast. And then dinner. Lucy
won't be able to cook. She's got loads of work at Deception and beside all
there is in her refrigerator is OJ [please NO!] and pickles. So they agree
to meet for dinner at the Outback and then head to her place. Lucy and Kevin
dissolve into each others arms and under the covers.

Later in the morning it's time for another therapy session for the Joneses.
This one doesn't go too well as they deal with Tony being critical of Bobbie.
Sarcasm flies no matter what they discuss. Bobbie wonders if Alan and Moncia
manage to stick together despite their problems why can't she and Tony. But
as Tony points out, he isn't Alan and Bobbie isn't Monica. They discuss each
other's definition of love...and there is another point of difference. Not a
good session.

It's late afternoon or early evening when Alan shows up at the Outback. He
doesn't want to go home. It dawns on Mac that this is the day Monica left
for AZ. In comes Bobbie to join the pity party. Mac thought she and Tony
were making progress but somehow what Mac says send Alan and Monica into
gales of laughter. Later Alan and Bobbie are having dinner and their spirits
seem to be better. Alan reminds Bobbie that Tony wouldn't be going through
the therapy sessions if Tony didn't care for her. Just then in bounces Lucy.
She makes a few remarks about Bobbie having a therapy session until Mac
steers her away to her own table. Alan and Bobbie figure Lucy is either
plotting or has a new man in her life. Bobbie remembers that Tony was married
to Lucy and Alan reminds her he was as well but they both divorced Lucy. Then
in comes Kevin. He heads straight for Lucy and they kiss. Bobbie doesn't
like it. She's not sure she has confidence in her therapist if he really
likes Lucy. Alan just stares in disbelief. Bobbie wants to warn Kevin about
Lucy. She figures he's just infatuated with Lucy, just like she was with
Damian. At least that's what she thinks the look on Kevin's face suggests.
[Sorry Bobbie, no way!] Meanwhile Kevin seems to be off on another planet.
Lucy brings him back to earth. There's still one ghost he has to confront.
Lucy doesn't want to hear it but Kevin feels he does have to see Ryan before
they can really explore what they have together.

Till Next Time
