Date: Sun, 1 Jan 1995 22:09:20 CST From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 12/30/94 GH Update for 12/30/94 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 Luke, Laura, and Lucky arrive at the Ward house for a Kwanzaa celebration. Edward arrives and is greeted cordially by Keesha and politely by the other Wards. Justus begins the ceremonies. Scene 2 Alan and Monica quietly toast the New Year. Scene 3 A dazzling Lucy greets Kevin at her door with a passionate kiss that lasts into the front room. She tells him no talk that will jinx the evening. He gives her a sponge and a rubber ducky; she sees a theme emerging. Scene 4 In their room, Alan tries to convince Monica that she looks fine, but she doesn't believe him. She prepares for her trip to Arizona, but Alan interrupts saying he needs her attention focused elsewhere. Scene 5 Justus explains Kwanzaa is not a religious holiday. In Swahili it means "first fruit" and in the broadest sense is a harvest celebration that began about 30 years ago by Dr. Molana Karinga [please forgive any misspellings]. It's a seven day feast beginning December 26 with each day dedicated to one of seven principles. Mae Mae proceeds to explain the principles: unity, self- determination, collective worth and responsibility, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith. Keesha then relates an emotional story of a heroic woman born into slavery but who worked to buy her own freedom and go on to lead an exemplary and courageous life. Scene 6 Lois arrives at the mansion to give Ned his concert and promotion schedule which has been made very full. Scene 7 More Kwanzaa stuff. Scene 8 Alan asks Monica to focus on them. She says she loves him, and he's been very patient and generous, but she feels devoid of any sexuality and can't respond now; however, they kiss tenderly. Scene 9 Lucy's motor is revving, and she's ready to hit the gas, but Kevin shifts to neutral saying there's something he must tell her. She looks apprehensive. He brings up what Mac said about him being an intellectual snob, and says Mac was right. Kevin says he's very grateful to her and hopes he's worth her efforts. He tells her he loves her. She tells him she loves him too, and they kiss passionately. [This scene was a good contrast to the Sonny/Brenda one. In that case, it was basically: I move in, or you find another place to park your Porche.] Scene 10 Ned tells Lois he'll show her what he can do over the next six weeks. She is dubious. Scene 11 Justus prods Mae Mae into singing "Oh Happy Day." They all join in dancing and singing, even Edward. Scene 12 Luke implores Mae Mae into agreeing to sing at his club. She says yes immediately. Scene 13 Edward takes Justus aside for a private conversation. Scene 14 Alan and Monica lie in bed together. She apologizes for not being able to respond to him as she would like to. Scene 15 Lucy plays seductively with her ducky in a bubble bath. A robed Kevin enters and proceeds to sensuously sponge her creamy white silken thighs. He slowly disrobes and steps into the bath with Lucy. Unfortunately, he slips and falls hitting his head on the tub, rendering him unconscious. [Sheesh, Kevin, guys generally wait at least till *they're* done before losing consciousness.] [Yes, I know this coitus interruptus joke is sooo cute, but enough is enough. There's just so far you can stretch a joke. Hmm, then again look how far they've tried to stretch Miguel.] Scene 16 Edward asks Justus to meet him at ELQ the next day to discuss a plan Edward claims will benefit ELQ, Charles Street, and Justus. Scene 17 Ned thanks Lois for giving him another chance and wishes her a Happy New Year. She responds HNY, and they kiss softly. She leaves looking lonely/confused. Scene 18 Lucy phones for help saying she's got an unconscious man in her bathtub.
