Date: Mon, 12 Dec 1994 00:06:14 CST From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 12/09/94 GH Update for 12/09/94 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 As Edward's trial reconvenes, Mae Mae and Justus arrive to a gaggle of reporters. Justus mentions that Edward will take the stand. Mae Mae snaps defensively that Edward may loose his freedom. Soon, Edward and a few of the other Q's arrive and take their places in court. Stannis and Lee chide Edward for not having his entire family there in a show of support in front of the jury. They argue about the effect of blaming everything on Boland and Frank Smith considering they were recently snuffed out. Scene 2 Laura paces worriedly while Tiffany tries to comfort her. Lucky arrives and asks about his father. Laura tells him what Sonny and Sean said. Scene 3 Ned visits Sonny to offer to buy him out of L&B Records, but Sonny laughs at the offer and tells him to get lost. Ned makes disparaging statements about Sonny's background, and Sonny counters with similar references to Ned's bigamy. Scene 4 Back at the trial, Edward's lawyer gets an expert to admit they couldn't be certain that the bullet which actually killed Bradley came from Edward's gun, but on cross examination, the prosecutor brought out that Edward's gun wasn't ruled out as the murder weapon. Scene 5 Lucky and Laura continue to talk about what happened to Luke. Lucky gets very upset, [this kid really makes Ricky Martin look like a hack actor. Wait now, I forgot, Ricky Martin is a hack actor.] but he's confident his father swam to safety and is hiding. [Quick check under Lucy's bed.] Scene 6 During a recess, the press vultures try to get statements out of Alan, AJ, and Justus. Alan and AJ discuss Edward's state of mind. Scene 7 Felicia and Mac talk about Lola and how to get her to give them information about Jack Boland and Frank Smith. Kevin arrives and asks about Lucy since he hadn't heard from her. Felicia says a package for her arrived from Scott Baldwin. Kevin takes the package, and Felicia and Mac head off to New York to see Lola. Scene 8 Sonny comes to see Lois. When she expresses worry over recent events, he tries to assure her, but she says he gets into, "the wild side of life," and L&B is not interested in shoot 'em ups. She asks him point blank if he's involved in something that will fall in on her. Scene 9 Stannis gets another expert to say they couldn't be certain when the bullet entered the tree. Again, the prosecutor establishes that the bullet from Edward's gun could have entered when they said. Finally, Edward himself is called to the stand. Scene 10 Sonny assures Lois he wouldn't betray her; he'd rather cut off his own arm. Lois says she believes him, but if he does, he won't need to cut off his own arm; she'll do it for him. [Just his arm? I thought this was the 90's where women are encouraged to maim men in all sorts of new and imaginative ways.] Sonny tells her about Ned's offer to buy him out, and she gets royally PO'd at the news. Scene 11 On the stand, Edward testifies that he felt they were exerting too much pressure on Bradley which is why he asked the others to back off, but the others laughed at him. He swears he never called Jack Boland the night of the meeting. He says after he left he went to a motel [with Mae Mae, by any chance?]. He also testifies that many people had easy access to his gun, and they could have removed it and returned it undetected. Scene 12 Sonny visits Laura but has no new news for her. She is very worried and criticizes Sonny for telling Luke about Frank Smith. Sonny says he was being honest with Luke, but regrets it now. Scene 13 Ned comes to see Lois and says they need to discuss Sonny. She angrily replies she's worked things out with Sonny. Her problem is with him. Scene 14 Mac and Filly visit Lola, who says she no longer acts. Mac and Filly toss out a few gratuitous compliments, and she starts to talk about her past involvement with Boland. She tells them Jack listened to her but also told her things as well. When they mention Edward's indictment for Bradley's murder, she replies that couldn't be. Scene 15 On cross examination, the prosecutor picks at Edward's story and manages to bring up that Jack Boland can't refute Edward's statements because he's now dead. Scene 16 Lois tells Ned to quit trying to control her or her company with his money. He tells her his people didn't get Brenda and Miguel kidnapped. She says she trusts Sonny because he has never betrayed her. Ned counters by saying he hopes Sonny wasn't going to set a precedent. Scene 17 Out of scene, Lola has explained why she knows Edward is innocent, but we don't find out what she said. She agrees to testify if she could get some, "help" to finance her trip. They assure her Edward would consider it a bargain. Scene 18 Under extremely pointed cross examination, the prosecutor badgers Edward into angrily blurting out that Jack Boland got exactly what he deserved. Even though the judge sustained Stannis' objection to the questions and ordered the jury to disregard the them and the outburst, Lee and Stannis knew damage had been done.
