Daily Updates
Date: Sun, 13 Nov 1994 15:26:32 CST From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 11/11/94 GH Update for 11/11/94 By John R. Andrews, UIC This week's (and possibly the last) foreign phrase is a commonly heard term, but one that can be used in many new and inventive ways. Cul-de-sac (French), literally, bottom of a bag; a blind alley. Example: Many people feel new DNA tests will show that Newt Gingrich is a genetic cul-de-sac. Scene 1 Mac notices Mophead is happier than usual and thinks to himself, "Ah, Miguelita must have visited Lily's place last night." Scene 2 On the plane to Cairo, Tony and Felicia discuss Frisco. She expresses having a minor anxiety attack on the trip. Scene 3 Edward's lawyer, Milton Stannis, says the prosecution has finally turned over all the case evidence. He reveals that Jack Boland was a grand jury witness. Edward and Lee are very surprised at what Boland said. They claim his testimony about their meeting is inaccurate and seems to indicate that he's trying to frame Edward. The older Q is so outraged that, over the strenuous warnings of Lee and his lawyer, he storms out to confront Boland. Scene 4 Frank Smith's lawyer, Cusack, calls Sonny to say that word has gotten back to Frank that people are asking questions about his past dealings, and the people asking are Sonny's friends. He "suggests" that they back off or things could get ugly. Scene 5 On the plane, Tony and Felicia discuss their plans once they get to Cairo. Scene 6 Lily arrives at the Outback to talk to Miguel. She wants to know if he'd like to try to find their son, Yeti Jr. Scene 7 Mary Mae visits Luke to tell him Justus is returning home that day. They discuss Edward's trial. She is still worried that they are after the wrong man. Scene 8 At the PC Hotel Grill, Sean and Tiffany blabber on about going on a Hawaiian vacation after the trial is over. Just then, Damian and the now conscious Katherine stroll into the grill. Soon thereafter, Edward bursts into the room to confront Jack Boland. He accuses Boland of perjuring himself and attempting to set him up for murder; the crusty Quartermain then orders him out of the hotel. Tiffany, seasoned professional that she is, immediately jumps up and manages to drag revealing, "No comment" quotes from both Jack and Edward. Scene 9 Luke tries to get Mae Mae to reveal why she is so sure Edward is not guilty. She only says it's a "feeling" she has [and we know what part of her gets most of that feeling]. Just then Sonny arrives to see Luke. Scene 10 In a supposed Cairo street [which more closely resembled a set from a Eurocentric fourth grade production of Casablanca], Tony and Felicia search for their local contact, Rakeem. When they seemingly find the fellow [who looks more like Reginald Val Johnson than an Egyptian], he tells them to leave him alone. Felicia tries to convince him who they are by babbling almost incoherently, but understandably, he is very suspicious. Eventually, they reach a conversational cul-de-sac and decide to try to locate Frisco on their own, but he blocks their way. [Note: Reginald Val Johnson is the father on Family Matters and also played the cop in Die Hard who talked to Bruce Willis, but I'm sure everyone knew that.] Scene 11 Lily tells the Shaggy Singer that someone must know where their son is. He expresses [i.e. stutters, mumbles] reservations about entering the child's life at this point. She suggests they just locate and stalk the kid and wants to leave for P.R. immediately because American Airlines is offering a new super saver fare, but there are a few restrictions. You must leave on a Friday, stay at least a week, and be searching for a child you gave up for adoption without telling the father. Scene 12 Sonny explains to Luke about Cusack's call and says he's pulling his man out and suggests Luke do the same for Mac. Luke tells Sonny that he doesn't control Mac. They argue a bit, and Sonny says he'd go out on a limb for Luke, but not Edward or Justus. Scene 13 Back at the PC Grill, [in a cutesy bit of writer humor] Tiffany asks Sean what if she pulled off all the daytime soaps on her station and put on gavel-to- gavel coverage of Edward's trial. Damian and Katy discuss the possible ramifications of the old guard infighting. Scene 14 Luke comes to see Mac to warn him about Frank Smith. Mac says he's sticking with the investigation, but he'll watch out. Scene 15 Back in faux-Cairo, Felicia continues to jabber at Rakeem; amazingly, however, eventually he is convinced who they are and welcomes them to Cairo. Scene 16 The Follicled Father tells Mac they want to be on the next plane to P.R. Scene 17 Rakeem agrees to take Tony and Felicia to Frisco. Scene 18 In a good father/son scene Lucky and Luke feast on fast food. Luke tells him things may heat up soon in PC, so they go over security plans. It's evident the Lucky has spent much of his life looking over his shoulder and knows the ropes, but he asks if they will have to leave again. When Luke says he doesn't think so, Lucky says good because "Foster" likes PC and wouldn't want to leave. As they chat, there's a noise at the door; Lucky immediately hides, and Luke grabs a bat, but it turns out to be Laura and LuLu returning home. Errata: As several readers pointed out to me, there was an error in last week's update. In the last scene, I inadvertently typed "Mac fantasized" when, of course, I meant "Ned fantasized." While I try to maintain the highest level of quality in all my updates, occasionally a mistake will slip by, especially when I'm typing the damn thing at 12:00 AM so you people who are too cheap to get a VCR can get it on a timely basis. What do you people think I have some editorial staff here or something? Couldn't you just let it slide? No, you had to point out my failings and severely endanger my self-esteem. For what? So you could get a momentary rush of power? You disgust me, but other than that, I hope you enjoyed it and continue reading them, and have a nice day.
