Daily Updates
From: yarnot@babbage.ecs.csus.edu (Jan Yarnot) Subject: GH: Update Nov. 3, 1994 Date: 4 Nov 1994 01:47:52 GMT And the headlines in Port Chuck certainly are an improvement over those in RL. There are two big stories: EDWARD QUARTERMAINE INDICTED IN 20-YEAR OLD BRADLEY WARD MURDER Tiffany, of course, is covering the story. Ned has gone along to provide moral support for his grandfather. Edward pleads not guilty, and the DA, who appears to be running for higher office (governor of New York, perhaps?) insists on $10 million bail, with ALL of it to be paid. Lee objects to this on the basis of his client's character. The judge, however, agrees to the high bail (perhaps because of Lee's argument!) and also orders Edward to surrender his passport. Back at the mansion, Lila refuses to be sent to her room when the high-priced lawyer comes to discuss tactics. This guy is Milton Stannis, gorgeous, fresh off the OJ case and ready to pull strings and fight for Edward. Edward is very confrontational. He doesn't want to wait 20 days, and he doesn't want to cooperate at all, but Lila's presence softens him a bit. He says he did not kill Bradley, but he has "no evidence, no alibi, not one damn thing." NEDDIE ASHTON-MAINE AND THE IDLE RICH TO PERFORM AT THE OUTBACK Ned is late to rehearsal, so Brenda and Lois discuss the Edward story. Lois figures he did it, but she's sad to see Lila hurt. It's bad to have your "white knight" muddied. (I don't think she realizes how un-naive Lila is, and has been, for years! Of course, she's relating personally, too.) They talk about how Ick-l isn't doing anything either. Brenda tells Lois about the child, and Lois is horrified that Lily didn't tell Ick-l. But Lois at least thinks to feel sorry for Lily a little, Brenda meanwhile only relating to Mophead. (I hope part of that is green-eyed monster.) Lois says this is a management problem. The Line of the Day: "What we have to go through to keep the talent functioning in this place." Ned arrives. Lois uses Brenda to tell him off. She wants him to sing "The Road Not Travelled" (? sorry, is that the name of it?) but he has another song in mind to warm up his pipes. He sings "Believe my Love" to Lois. She doesn't like how it's performed. Ned will do anything to please her. Till hours later, when they're shouting at each other with the band and Brenda chorusing "trust him". At one point Ned uses the words "artistic integrity" and Lois doesn't figure he knows what that word means. Will the concert tomorrow at the Outback really happen? Mac calls Sean to come quick, Filly has decided to get in touch with Frisco. She nearly kills them both when she finds out they've been trying to find him, (and they are both terrified of her, it's easy to see!) but she'll let Sean call his contact and see what he can find out. Meanwhile, F&M discuss Edward Q's case. "Who knows what anyone is capable of, especially a Quartermaine." Frisco is in Cairo, which is huge, but Filly is going. (Yes, but why didn't he even send Maxie a birthday greeting, I agree with the r.a.t.s.ers!) Mac wants to come along, he'll abandon Robin to Sean and Tiff again. Filly isn't sure of this. Sitting in her bedroom, talking to Phantom Frisco, she says "Mac needs me to need him" but she doesn't. Phantom Frisco serenades her a little. Bring back Rick Springfield, say I! Sonny and Luke are discussing the indictment. Luke thinks maybe Frank did it. They go to meet Harry, the original owner of the Paradise Lounge, who has underworld contacts, and who will continue to keep his ears open. Sonny and Luke talk about Luke's plans for the club, which is going to be special. Oh, Ned is performing at the Outback tomorrow night. Luke is definitely going. Sonny suggests that Luke bring Laura to Puerto Rico with the Miguel tour. (Sonny's "redemption" started with Laura. He's got a definite madonna (not THAT Madonna!) crush on her, the first "good woman" who has really liked him and been good to him.) -- Jan Yarnot, net.granny, RABbabe | OK, I love you, bye-bye!
