                            GH Update for 10/14/94
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

As a public service to my loyal update readers, I am going to help add variety
to both your spoken language and your E-mail by choosing a foreign word or
phrase each week (till I get tired of doing it), define it, use it at least
once, and encourage all of you to drop it in conversation or E-mail the
following week, much as Lucy did with Kevin. In this, manner you will gain
prestige as a cultured and educated person. Of course, practically no one will
understand you, but such is the burden of the literati, i.e. the learned class.
To get started for today's phrase, I chose the one Lucy specially selected for
Kevin.

Lapsus linguae (Latin), slip of the tongue.

So remember; try to use it this week. If, for example, in a moment of
indiscretion you should happen to call your boss a slimy little cretin, stop
and say, "Oh, pardon me, that was just a lapsus linguae." I'm sure he will be
so impressed that he will be much more inclined to give you a good reference
for your next job.

Scene 1
Lily nurses a drink at the Outback bar. Miguel comments to her that her recent
quietness must be because he makes her uncomfortable, [welcome to the club] but
she says no.
Scene 2
Robin talks to Felicia about her pregnancy. Robin is concerned about Mac, who
then arrives and once again suggests Felicia contact Frisco. Felicia reacts
defensively at his perceived interference.
Scene 3
The Q's gather for an ELQ board meeting to decide how to divide up Damian's
shares. Lucy appears and tries to play the hero for getting Damian dumped.
Scene 4
Luke comes to see Damian at GH.
Scene 5
Ned suggests that he be allowed to buy all of Damian's shares, but,
predictably, everyone else objects vehemently, and one by one they all argue
that they should get the shares. Eventually, the discussion degenerates into
petty bickering.
Scene 6
Felicia chews out Mac for butting into her life, especially after he dumped
her. Mac accuses her of not wanting to commit long term and of not taking
Frisco's rights into account.
Scene 7
Brenda and Sonny discuss Ned and Lois. Brenda expresses confidence that Sonny
will work it out.
Scene 8
Miguel asks Lily where they going from there. "Long term?" Lily asks. "No,
after lunch," he replies, "I'm not sure how to get to Kelly's yet."
Scene 9
Damian tells Luke he will come back from his current situation. Luke says
that's fine, but one thing he can't do is retaliate.
Scene 10
Jason scolds the others about their greediness and suggests they just divide up
the shares equally. Finally, they all agree if each person wanting shares can
afford to buy them. AJ tries to get a loan, but Alan, Ned, and Edward refuse.
Eventually, Lila agrees to lend him the money. [Is Lucy included? If so, where
is she getting the money?]
Scene 11
Lily tells Miguel he needs to give her some time to sort things out. "I
understand," he replies, "things have been very emotional lately." "No," she
continues, "I mean I need time to unpack and sort out my clothes."
Scene 12
When Brenda goes to talk to Robin, Lily pounces on Sonny ostensibly to thank
him for coming to PR. He asks how she's doing, and she says ok, but you can't
recapture the past; you must reestablish a new relationship. She also suggests
that Sonny let Miguel do a concert in PR (Yes! And leave him there). He says
it's a great idea, and they'll consider it.
Scene 13
Meanwhile, Brenda glares at them, and Robin accuses her of being jealous. She
denies it, but heads back to the table to break them up. Sonny calls her on
it, and she confesses, much to his delight.
Scene 14
Kevin saunters into the Outback and immediately picks up on the Mac/Felicia
tension. Felicia warns him she's not in the mood for any more advice. He takes
her to a table to talk just as Lucy comes in. Felicia rambles on about Mac and
Frisco and the baby. When he doesn't jump to her side, she accuses him of
being part of a male conspiracy. Meanwhile, Lucy begins to fume.
Scene 15
Kevin tells Felicia Grace put him in the position she's putting Frisco in, and
it's not fair. In a humorous (in a slap-stick sort of way) black-and-white
silent movie style, Lucy pictures Kevin tied to a railroad track by a Snidely
Whiplash costumed Felicia. With a train rapidly approaching, Lucy dressed in a
very short bare midriff cowgirl vest (if Dale Evans would have worn this
outfit, Roy Rogers would have spent less time with his horse) appears to save
him. After a fierce (or is that farce) gunfight, Snidely Jones is killed by
Hopalong Coe in a scene with more ham acting than a Porky Pig cartoon. Back in
the "real" world, Lucy storms over to the table and orders Felicia to run
along; Felicia is not amused.
Scene 16
Luke threatens that if Damian moves against his family or friends, Luke would
not only have Damian's sister in jail but would also see to it that Frank
Smith's money laundering apparatus would be exposed.
Scene 17
Felicia tells Lucy to stop being so territorial about Kevin and then splits. As
Lucy cajoles Kevin to forgive him, Luke arrives to tell her about Damian. Kevin
is very concerned about Damian's threats.
Scene 18
Luke then flits over to Sonny's and Brenda's table and pushes Brenda off so he
can talk to Sonny about Frank Smith.
Scene 19
Lucy approaches Felicia who immediately warns her not to continue; however,
Lucy rambles on about their friendship and how Felicia is currently overly
hormonal. Eventually, Felicia tells her they're not friends and to go away.
Scene 20
Tony, Mac, Sean, and Hairball stand around the bar watching Felicia and
concurring that she should tell Frisco. Sean agrees to try to get some
information from the WSB about Frisco.
Scene 21
Luke explains to Sonny about Damian then asks about Frank Smith and the Bradley
Ward case. Sonny agrees to ask around.
Scene 22
Lucy continues to apologize to Kevin for her lapsus linguae when she blurted
out Damian's name. She says she'll do a lot to make up for it. He is intrigued
(men have short memories when carnal offerings are involved) at the thought,
and they agree to have dinner at her place.

                              Finis coronat opus
                           (The end crowns the work)
