From: njs@lhdsy2.lahabra.chevron.com (N.J.Spera) Subject: GH: Update, Wednesday, October 5, 1994 Date: 6 Oct 94 16:33:56 GMT GENERAL HOSPITAL Wednesday, October 5, 1994 Today's Stories Questions 'R Us Checks 'R Us Attempted Murder 'R Us Truth 'R Us Questions 'R Us --------------- At Bradley Ward House Keesha questions Justus as to what is going on since she found Mary Mae sitting alone and crying the night before. Keesha wants Justus to share what's going on and she figures it's more than just Bradley's murder. With that Justus brings Keesha up to date with the latest developments including his father's affairs and how Judge Quinlan stopped the investigation into Bradley's murder [Picky me, it was just a missing person investigation then!]. Keesha at first figures it's all that new knowledge that is disturbing Mary May but Justus ventures that their grandmother knows more, in fact she knew about a lot of it. Justus figures that Keesha should ask Mary Mae about it since he can't really explain it. Just as Keesha agrees to ask Mary Mae the doorbell rings. It's Lily and Miguel to see Mary May for help finding a job and a place to live for Lily. When Mary May finds out Lily loves to teach younger children she offers to put in a word with the principal of the local elementary school so Lily can get substitute work till the next term. Mary May then suggests Kelly's as a place to live since Ruby rents out rooms. Miguel will talk to Brenda about it since she lived there before she moved to the Quartermaines. Checks 'R Us ------------ Lucy is in her Deception office and is furious with something Katherine did. As Luke arrives he determines the target of her anger and Lucy lets him know she could "kill" Katherine. It turns out Lucy has discovered Katherine made a deal for whale oil to use as a perfume base. Katherine did save a bundle of dollars...but Lucy isn't happy whales were destroyed. The big problem is no supplies have been delivered. A second order was made and in her investigation she has discovered the "New Zealand Whaling Co." has disappeared, with Deception's money. Luke listens to all this and eventually they get around to their plan to get Damian. Lucy wants to know what's next. Luke has plans to make an unannounced visit to Damian's accountants and hopes Lucy has some more information. A light bulb goes off in Lucy's head. When Katherine first contacted the whaling company, she used Damian's name for an introduction. Luke studies the "fishy" correspondence and asks to see canceled checks. Lucy is a bit leery... that's really intimate but gives in. Luke is "very" interested with what he finds. The cancellation marks on the back of the checks are familiar to Luke. He needs to do some homework and heads off to copy the checks leaving Lucy frustrated. Luke won't share what he thinks the info means. Attempted Murder 'R Us --------------------- At GH Sean arrives summoned by Steve's urgent phone call. Sean hadn't known about Katherine's "accident" so Steve fills him in and then hands over the lab report for Sean to read. Steve figures it could be a case of attempted murder. Sean pours over the lab reports but can't make head or tails out of it so finally Steve translates. Katherine had lethal levels of two prescription drugs in her system which had not been prescribed for her. In fact results from a recent physical indicate she didn't use drugs. The dosage in Katherine's system was enough to make her pass out and fall down the stairs. Sean mutters, "The Quartermaines again!" Meanwhile at the Q's after a sleepless night Ned comes downstairs and first thing encounters Edward who wants to talk with Ned. Ned isn't happy with how Edward treated Lois the night before and tries to disabuse Edward of the idea that Lois could have poisoned Katherine. Ned does inform Edward that Katherine is out of recovery but is still in a coma and there is no prognosis. When Edward questions if Ned attempted to kill Katherine Ned denies it...he had Katherine neutralized. They then discuss who in the house might have done it. Edward knows he didn't do it..and of course Lila couldn't have done it. Ned mentions that Katherine did hit Annabelle but agrees, Lila is a bit of a stretch. Ned's favorite is Alan. Edward goes back to Lois. Ned continues to try to convince Edward that Lois couldn't kill Katherine, maybe himself but not Katherine. Commissioner Donely arrives.."Long time no see." Ned studies the lab report and "innocently" asks if the report means the levels of drugs were lethal. Yes, and therefore there's a criminal investigation. Sean just hopes it doesn't turn into murder. Sean finds out the entire family was present at the meeting. Ned even mentions Annabelle to which Sean remarks.. a likely suspect. When Ned leaves out Lois, Edward makes a point to inform Sean that Lois was present. They discuss the reason for the meeting and how they "figured" by the end of the meeting Katherine had backed off her threats to charge Ned with bigamy with the knowledge the Qs would counter with information of Katherine's past indiscretions. Ned asserts for that reason he had no motive. Sean inquires about Lois and finds out Lois and Katherine were definitely not cordial (an understatment). Ned tries to explain that Lois couldn't kill anyone but Sean wants to talk to her and turns down Ned's offer to accompany Sean to the gate house. Ned accuses Edward of using Lois to deflect suspicion from the rest of the family. They argue about Lois' ability or lack thereof to kill someone. Edward points out Lois is not family, or a least acts like it only when it suits her, something Ned counters he's been accused of. Ned points out that Lois is the one who has been hurt the most throughout the whole Katherine debacle. It finally dawns on Ned that Edward's move to send Sean to Lois was stupid...Lois knows the whole story about Alan and Lois doesn't lie. Edward charges off to the gate house but before he gets out the door Ned stops him. There is no easy for Edward to stop the boomerang effect now. Lois will tell the truth. In fact Ned hopes Lois does tell the truth. He's tired protecting the family and hurting Lois so let the chips fall where they may. Truth 'R Us ----------- In the gate house, as Brenda works silently at the desk, Lois is on the couch replaying the part of the previous evening at the Q's after Sean left and when Edward floated the possibility that Lois "did it." When Lois comes back to the present she announces..."The Qs are certifiable." Brenda tries to say they're not that bad but tries to point out that what Lois sees as a model for a dysfunctional family is exactly why Ned liked being Eddie Maine. Lois doesn't want to buy any of Brenda's theories and erupts that she has to stay mad or else her heart will break and she'll die. Brenda just sorta stands there until Lois finally says she's sorry for blowing up at Brenda. She gets Brenda to agree to always tell the truth and to avoid the issue of Ned, no Eddie, no Ashton. Sean arrives. He needs to talk to Lois about the attempted murder of Katherine. Brenda leaves and goes to visit Sonny. She awakens him with her pounding and informs him of the trouble Lois might be in and that Lois is talking to Sean without an attorney. Sonny tries to calm Brenda and holds her. Brenda wants to be able to trust him. Meanwhile back at the gate house Lois goes on and on how she couldn't kill anyone and didn't do it. Sean tries to caution her that she might want an attorney present but Lois declines. Sean gets her to tell him her case history with Ned. He discovers Lois married Ned one week before "Kathy" got her claws in Ned. When questioned why Ned married Katherine Lois throws all sorts of reasons but won't tell Sean. She tells him to ask Ned but Sean wants an answer from Lois, Sean'll talk to Ned later. But Lois isn't one to gossip and values the truth. Finally when she says she's done protecting him and Sean inquires "Ned?' Lois gives in. She tells Sean Katherine had blackmailed the Qs with info Dr. Q who had accidentally killed some man who abused some girl and the family was covering it up. Sean asks who was killed but Lois doesn't remember the name. Sean wonders.."Was it Ray Conway?"....[cliff-hanger] Till Next Time -- Nancy J.
