Date: Mon, 22 Aug 1994 18:08:16 CDT From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Mon 08/22/94 By: kathy%gundog@lbl.gov (Kathy Ellington) General Hospital Update for Monday, August 22 SPECULATION: My mom and I both think it's possible that Bradley DID commit suicide and May-Mae buried his body. Think about it. Bradley had lots of embarrassing secrets that were, perhaps, about to be leaked by his enemies. So, if he DID take his own life [considered a cowardly act by some and DEFINITELY against Christian tenets] then maybe May-Mae buried him to keep his reputation intact. She could rationalize it away by believing that the suicide would undo all the good that Bradley had achieved. Comments to kathy%gundog@lbl.gov Miguel and Sonny kiss, make up, and whisper sweet "nadas" in each others' ears. ============================================================================== Brenda continues to rail at Sonny for his Neanderthal behavior towards Miguel. She tells him that L&B Records needs to keep Miguel; Sonny replies that it's HIS company and if he can't arbitrarily toss some guy out on his can then there's something mighty wrong with the American Way of Doing Business! In an attempt to get Sonny to see some perspective, Brenda tells him about Miguel's true love, Lily, and the tragic story of her mobster dad, Senor Rivera. Sonny is impressed that Miguel escaped from Puerto Rico with his "huevos" intact. Brenda reassures her half-pint that she belongs to him "solamente" and asks that he apologize to Miguel. In another part of town, Miguel flashes into the Outback Club; he's angry and tells Mac about the squabble with Sonny and that he's finished in the music business. Mac warns him not to act in haste. Later on, Sonny semi-apologizes to Miguel. They both agree that their hot, Latin blood gets them into trouble (yah, that must be it!). They also agree to kiss and make up, at least for the present. Sonny reports back to Brenda that he made nice with Miguel [yank that leash, girlfriend!]. It's Mac to the Rescue, but is she really a Damsel in Distress? ============================================================================== A gal rushes into the Outback Club and wants to use the phone. Seems her car has broken down and she wants to call the auto club. Miguel and Mac both leap to help her. However, Mac slams Miguel's hair in the cash register and he arrives at the girl's side first. They both listen to her car troubles, their tongues hanging out. Her name is Ivy Lee and she's, like, REALLY, REALLY perky...y'know! Eventually, Miguel goes back to work and Mac and Ivy huddle together, giggling and talking about cars. Filly comes clomping in and zooms over to their table to interrupt them. It's clear she's a third wheel and they shut her out of their car talk. Miguel asks if Filly if she ever saw a doctor and found out why she fainted last week. She smiled and said that yes, indeed, she found out but isn't ready to share the info with anyone yet. They talk briefly about his tepid musical career. After the chicklet's car is fixed, Mac asks her for a date and she agrees (wow, hard-up-ville!). He semi-crows to Felicia about getting a date with Ivy. Kylie Comes to Town with News from the Past for Justus ============================================================================== Journalist Kylie Quinlan calls Justus, returning his earlier phone call. She is in Syracuse on a magazine assignment and they arrange to meet and discuss "Big Daddy" Bradley Ward. Kylie is shaken up to learn that they discovered Bradley's body in somebody's garden and that he died as a result of a gunshot. he hops in her car and points her headlights toward Port Chuckles. She's hungry and as she drives mental images of Bradley intermingle with food: raw turkey necks, carrots, yams, eggs+sausage, zucchini, even an 18" Daikon radish! Kylie arrives and chats with Justus, who fills her in on Bradley Ward House and general family background. Justus wants to know about her relationship with Bradley. She says he helped her find herself [uh, baby, where does THIS go?]. Justus says he knows they were lovers in the past but he needs to know more and asks for her help. Kylie says that after Bradley disappeared she was at a loss as to what she should do next. Seems that her dad was an appellate judge and a political big guy in NY. She says she used her father's connections to get a good job. And when she met Bradley she really believed in what he was doing [and what he was doing TO her]; she used her political clout to push Ward's social programs through the system. Kylie says she wanted to come forward after Bradley's death and say that she thought he was being blackmailed about their love affair. She chickened out, though, at the thought of all the repercussions (on both sides) that would happen. Then she dropped a bombshell; she told Justus that before Bradley disappeared, someone had tried to kill both of them! She says that late one night a car followed them and tried to force them off the road; two men were in the car. They were run off the road; she woke up in the ER at GH. Justus asked if she was badly injured. She said that she lost Bradley's baby she was carrying. (yikes, sometimes it's better NOT to know, eh Justus?!) She said they chose not to report the incident but that Dr Steve Hardy knew about the accident and the lost baby. Ancient Steve told them that he observed the vow of "omerta" and that his lips were sealed. The hospital records would, of course, reflect that she lost a baby but wouldn't have any record of its paternity. Then Kylie says that Bradley's main enemies were Frank Smith, Jack Boland and Edward Quartermaine. Back then, Frank Smith at least had the "appearance" of a legit businessman. Later on, Justus asked May-Mae about Frank Smith. She instantly bristled at the interrogation and said to ask Luke and Laura about FS. She also warned Justus to back off from Frank Smith. Later, Justus got on the phone with Luke and told him that Frank Smith was a major player and a major enemy of Bradley's. The surgery was successful, but the patient isn't happy ============================================================================== Monica is in the recovery room. Bobbie leans her pendulous bulwarks over her [oh, the irony!] and Monica demands to know what happened. Bobbie tells her that the doctor performed a mastectomy but that after surgery, a large sponge turned up missing so things will probably even out in the long run. Monica managed to smile weakly to herself: she got pro-bono surgery AND an expensive sponge! Alan comes in to comfort her but Monica is angry that the doctor took the entire breast; Monica thinks the doctor took the easy way out and didn't try to save the breast. Alan tries to reason with her but she won't hear him. He says he's just happy she made it through the surgery. Alan tells her to just try to heal herself and try to drop the anger. Then he apologizes for all the women he's cheated on in the past [strange to have the conversation at that point in time, I thought]. Alan takes Bobbie aside and tells her to go to Tony and fix their marriage at any cost. She says she thinks it's too late for her and Tone Loc; the only thing she can do is to make Damian pay for seducing and abandoning her. Later on, Alan tells Tony how great it's been that he and Monica have been able to forgive each other. Tony goes "hmmm"! Bobbie skates on the edge of the wedge; Lila delivers the message. ============================================================================== Bobbie breezes into Damian's room again with a BIG bouquet of flowers! Damian comes in later and reads her note "The flowers contain the message" (sealed with a lipstick kiss [so 'ho-like]). He paws into the bouquet but doesn't find anything. Then he goes to see Lila and asks her about the "flowers that contain the message". She tells them that Victorians often assigned meanings to certain flowers [true] and thus were able to send a secret message to the one they loved by simply sending him/her a mixed bouquet of flowers [the same thing was done with precious and semi-precious stones]. Lila drags out a book about the flowers in the bouquet and tells Damian what they mean: red rose = true love (hers) white rose = I am worthy of you [ missed one ] hyacinth = games/play yellow acacia = secret love pansies = you occupy my thoughts jasmine = sensuality honeysuckle = bonds of love end end end send comments, questions, and flames to kathy%gundog@lbl.gov end end
