Date: Sun, 21 Aug 1994 21:30:34 CDT From: U14780@uicvm.uic.edu Subject: GH: Update for Fri 08/19/94 GH Update for 08/19/94 By John R. Andrews, UIC Scene 1 Sonny gripes to Lois about not having met Eddie; she snaps back about how badly he's been treating Miguel [not badly enough for my tastes]. Scene 2 Brenda reports to Lucy about how Damian was behind the ELQ takeover of Deception. Scene 3 Monica has to sign the usual surgical consent forms. Alan, AJ, and Jason arrive for a final visit before her surgery. Scene 4 In an emotional scene, Monica complains jokingly about her dislike of being treated like a patient. We also find out her surgery is pro-bono i.e. free. [If everyone got that treatment who would need health insurance reform]. Jason is reassuring, but AJ is not taking it very well, especially when Monica makes a gallows-humor joke about seeing "breast of chicken" was on her menu. First, Tony then Gail arrives to wish her well. Finally, she is wheeled off to surgery. [If any of you guys out there can't relate to the trauma of Monica's situation, think for a moment of dealing with having a large portion, if not all, of, well, let's say a man's best friend removed permanently. I think it fair to imagine a bit of concern would result about how you might be viewed by members (no pun intended) of both sexes.] Scene 5 Brenda tells Lucy that the idea for ELQ to buy Deception was proposed to Julia by Ned at Damian's instigation. Lucy is understandably furious and consequently very amusing. Scene 6 Justus gets a visit from an old family friend Eugene Furnes. Justus tells him he feels Eugene has more information then he told Sean, especially about Elizabeth Jackson. Eugene remarks that Elizabeth wasn't the only woman who loved Bradley. Scene 7 Lucy descends on Kevin's house ranting about Damian and Deception. Predictably, he lectures her asking what did she expect from Damian. She wants revenge, but he says the best revenge would be totally severing all ties with Damian. Lucy, of course, is incredulous at the suggestion of letting him "get away" with it. Scene 8 Sonny and Lois start to argue about Eddie and Miguel when Brenda arrives. She claims she tried calling Sonny to hear Eddie sing (a lie), but his line was busy. Not possible he countered since he has call waiting. When Lois leaves, Sonny and Brenda argue about who's lying to whom, but eventually begin to suck face until Brenda arrives with the tone-deaf troubadour in tow who glares at Sonny and vice-versa. Scene 9 Eugene tells Justus of another woman, Kylie Quinlan, who was the daughter of a federal justice, a Yaley, white, and another of Bradley's lovers. "One affair," Eugene remarked, "was dangerous, politically speaking, but the relationship with Kylie, that would have killed him." "May be it did," replied Justus. Scene 10 As the Q-men wait during Monica's surgery, AJ asks about the risks. When Jason answers matter-of-factly, AJ explodes out of worry and frustration accusing Jason of not caring. Alan interrupts and orders them to stop for his and Monica's sake. Scene 11 In the OR, they prep the still conscious and concerned Monica and start to administer the anesthesia. [I found this a bit inaccurate, though I'm sure it varies. In my own experience down that path, they always administered a "what- me-worry" shot well before you got to the OR. By the time, I was there, they could have removed any part of my anatomy, and I would have gladly handed them the knife.] Scene 12 Kevin continues to try to persuade Lucy to ignore Damian, but she can't imagine not trying to get revenge. He eventually channels her energies into a kiss ... Another Local Newsbreak (I'm not making this up): A local Congressman has been indicted on sex and obstruction charges including child pornography, sexual abuse of a child, and criminal sexual assault. Hey, now Chicago has two Congressmen under indictment. ... Lucy calls up Damian from Kevin's and sets up a meeting in her office. Kevin tells her not to ask him to bail her out when it all blows up. Scene 13 Justus and Eugene discuss Bradley's work file and peccadilloes. Justus is obviously pained at the thoughts, but says he doesn't build shrines to his father. Scene 14 Lucy tells Damian she's been bored since their bet was over. Egocentric that he is, he believes her when she accepts his proposed new bet. They set the stakes; if he wins, he get her ELQ shares and her; if she wins, she gets Deception. Scene 15 As Brenda dances close with the male-Medusa, Sonny arrives and orders them to break it up. When they don't move fast enough, Sonny grabs him and throws him into the wall as they both shout in at each other in Spanish. Translation: Miguel: Take your hands off me, macho-squirt, or I'll slap you back to Lilliput. Sonny: Listen you pimply-Puerto Rican. Keep away from my woman, or I'll give you a good punch in the knee. Finally, the Pennzoil Pompadour breaks free and storms out stuttering that he quits [we should be so lucky], but Lois goes after him ordering Brenda to calm Sonny down. [Right, isn't that like asking the arsonist to put out the fire?] Scene 16 Brenda, bosoms heaving, starts in on Sonny, but he says to stay away. They argue about her and Miguel. She says Sonny is wrong, but when he challenges her to tell him how wrong he is, she hesitates. Scene 17 In the GH recovery room, Bobbie talks to the Monica as she slowly comes out of the anesthesia. The first thing Monica asks is, "What did she do to me?" "Well," Bobbie hesitated, "she decided not to do this pro-bono." "Oh, my God," Monica replied, "not that. Anything but that." Scene 18 AJ paces around the waiting room with Alan and Jason. They stop short when the doctor arrives, presumably with news of Monica's condition.
