From: njs@lhdsy2.lahabra.chevron.com (n.j.spera) Subject: GH: Update, Wednesday, August 17, 1994 Date: 18 Aug 94 16:27:26 GMT Well, folk, it's great to be back (well sorta) and what an episode to come back with...enjoy and get out those tissues. GENERAL HOSPITAL Wednesday, August 17, 1994 Today's Stories Arrest That Damn Dog! Who Is That Redhead & The Lying King The Patient Is ME! Arrest That Damn Dog! --------------------- Sean visits Justus who questions Sean about leads on the threats to Laura. Justus blames himself for not taking a more active role in protesting the incinerator to deflect attention from Laura. Sean and Justus figure the threats came from outside "talent" unless the 2 guys and the "nurse" weren't of the local criminal talent. They finally get around to the reason for Sean's visit and Justus reveals to Sean that, yes, his father did have an affair with Elizabeth Jackson. Sean broaches the subject that maybe they should not only be looking at Bradley's enemies but also his friends and even suggests that Bradley could have committed suicide. That's a no-no to Justus who never wants the subject brought up again. Justus agrees to get in contact with Bradley's good friend Eugene Furness, who had clammed up when Sean asked him about Ms. Jackson. Sean leaves it up to Justus to decide which things Eugene might tell Justus in confidence could help them in investigating Bradley's death and could be passed on to Sean. A little later, after Sean has left, Justus talks to Eugene on the phone and arranges to meet with him when Eugene will be in town in 2 days. Just as he hangs up Lucky runs in...Foster has gotten loose and he figures Foster is off to the Q's where Mr. Q. had threatened to have Foster put in the dog pound if Foster ever showed up at the mansion again. So Justus offers to drive Lucky to the Q's. Sean meanwhile has arrived at the Q's and interrupts Edward's breakfast on the patio. Sean questions Edward about the threats to Laura and as Edward tells Sean the same thing he told Luke, threatening pregnant women is not his style, in comes Foster who immediately heads for Annabelle who is sitting next to Edward. Edward bellows "Arrest that damn dog!" The dogs nuzzle each other. Sean checks out Foster's tags and since they are all in order, no need to call the dogcather. Lucky and Justus arrive and Lucky apologizes profusely and takes the blame for Foster visiting the Q's and is willing to take the punishment so long as Edward doesn't call the dogcatcher. He promises it won't happen again and Justus steps in to argue Lucky's case. With that Sean announces there'll be no doggie arrest. Sean picks up on Sean having already seen Justus once that morning and figures Sean is still on the Bradley case. Lucky and Justus leave with Foster and Sean asks Joseph [oops blooper Java-man, Joseph is JUSTUS] to wait up. Justus tells Sean Eugene Furness will be in town the day after next. Edward gets a worried look on his face. Who Is That Redhead & The Lying King ------------------------------------ In the gatehouse Lois is listening to an Idle Rich mix when Brenda arrives. She thought they were going to be working on Miguel's CD but since the drummer has personal problems and Lois was able to get ahold of Eddie in "Utica" they're going have him lay down some tracks. Brenda almost chokes on her water when Lois says "Utica." Lois goes on about the great evening they had but wonders about Sonny's strange mood. She's about to call Sonny to have him come over to see Eddie for the first time but Brenda says no and pulls the phone out of Lois' hands. Brenda would rather call Sonny herself and find out if Sonny's out of the strange mood. Lois really wants "him" there and in walks NEddie thinking she's talking about him. While Lois goes off to huddle with the engineer Ned orders Brenda to keep Sonny and any of Ned's family who might appear away from the studio. Brenda has as much to lose as he does. When Brenda questions "What if I can't?" Ned tell her to yell and he'll jump out the window. How will he explain that to Lois? "How will I explain any of this to Lois?" wonders Ned. Brenda heads to the living room to make her call. NEddie is laying down the vocals to "The Lying King" when AJ enters the living room. He has noticed all the cars and then hears NEddie singing...he wants to see this great Eddie Maine. Brenda declares the gatehouse off limits to him and they have war of words as his curiosity is peaked. Eventually Brenda shoves him out the door after he questions this Eddie Maine who must be a hermit if he is such a private person. Lois is thrilled with Eddie's singing and can't wait for the CD. She realizes she can put a copy on a cassette so goes to the closet and while searching for cassettes finds a picture of Ned and Jenny. NEddie tells Lois the redhead is ancient history and the picture was when they were, oops, thought they were in love and Jenny had lived in the gatehouse at one time. Lois makes the connection to the Jenny of the champagne. She tries to question Neddie some more but just then the engineer comes out wondering if the track was ok. Not for NEddie who escapes and sings more of "The Lying King." Lois questions Brenda about the picture who tells Lois the same thing NEddie did...Jenny's ancient history but slips and mutters..."they're divorced anyways"..opps. Lois wonders if her Eddie had an affair with a married woman. No that was before Jenny was married to Ned Ashton and tells Lois to ask Eddie about it. The Patient is ME! ------------------ Alan has just gotten out of the shower when he notices Monica hanging up the phone. It was the hospital. They want her in the night before her surgery but she said no way. She doesn't want to spend their anniversary in a hospital bed. She was afraid Alan had forgotten but he hadn't wanted to make a big deal about it. After they are dressed, Alan and Monica make small talk about cancelling dinner plans for the weekend with Tiff and Sean. Monica brings up the reconstructive surgery option which Alan allows is her choice but she gets defensive about the "worst case scenario"...checking out caskets but immediately apologizes to Alan. He tells her she needs to tell the boys and Monica goes ballistic. She has to be in control and doesn't want anyone to tell what to do. When Alan tells her to let go and admit she's terrified she finally breaks down and Alan cries along with her. [Got those tissues out...you're going to need them.] Monica walks into the den where Jason is stuffing envelopes. She tells him about her surgery and Jason asks all the clinical questions. She tries to reassure him and tells him he's going to be a fine doctor. She asks Jason for his prayers...she's been in his prayers for a long time...as he fights back the tears. Monical admits she dreads telling AJ as they hold each other. Jason goes to his parents' room to see Alan and they both talk like doctors. Alan suggests Jason let himself react like a son instead of a doctor. Alan vents his anger that Monica had missed several mammogram tests and had had the symptoms for over month..."She's a doctor, she knows better, dammit"...and gets Jason to promise to never let Monica know Alan said that. Jason promises to be supportive, and not just of his mother. Down in the den AJ comes in where Monica is looking at a photo of her sons. He's ranting about Brenda throwing him out of the gatehouse while the next coming of Elvis is singing but notices that Monica doesn't look too good and wonders if she lost a patient. "No, the patient is me," says Monica. She tries to explain it to AJ and it hits him really hard. She tells him not to worry, she has no intention of dying. Monica heads to the hospital to see patients and AJ collapses on the sofa and sobs. Alan comes into the den and sees the shape AJ is in. He urges him to get hold of himself, Monica needs them. Alan goes to tell Edward. Edward doesn't notice the disturbed look on Alan's face and prattles on about Sean's visit and Foster and then worries that Alan's gotten the family into another crisis. Alan starts to tell him as we switch back to the den. Jason comes in red-eyed. AJ gets up and without saying a word they embrace each other and sob. -- Nancy J.
