                            GH Update for 07/22/94
                            By John R. Andrews, UIC

Scene 1
In the cozy gatehouse, Ned and Lois talk honeymoon. She worries about spending
too much money, but he lies as usual and says a friend got them a great deal.
Scene 2
Luke and the Latent Laborer discuss the confrontation at ELQ. She expresses an
instant dislike of Katherine.
Scene 3
Meanwhile at the Q's, Edward rails on about the dastardly demonstrators.
Suddenly, they are interrupted by a blaring car horn. Katherine barrels up in
her new red sports car and announces loudly, "I'm home!"
Scene 4
Katherine proceeds to order Reginald around until Monica gives her a stern
lecture on correct Quartermain behavior. Afterwards, Katy tells Reginald she
can manage herself, but when they leave she angrily kicks her new matched
luggage just as Ned arrives.
Scene 5
While Luke tries to watch TV, the Marching Mama goes on and on about the
incinerator. He tells her she may not win because she always plays by the
rules, but they won't. He believes that in the end it will be built.
Scene 6
Mac walks in on Felicia as she reviews her list of places Katherine may have
lived. He asks, "Deep dark secrets?" "Maybe," she replies.
Scene 7
M+F banter about Katherine's case. Felicia taunts him saying she will solve it
first.
Scene 8
Justus and Simone along with Tom Jr dine at the PC grill. First, they discuss
Tom and Somalia, then Bradley while TJr plays annoyingly under the table. Also
dining at the grill that night are Steve and Audrey Hardy who notes (as any
good mother-in-law should) Simone dining with Justus.
Scene 9
The Spencer's watch Tiffany's coverage of the ELQ protest.
Scene 10
At the same time, Katherine tries to assure the Q's that the protests will die
out especially after the Spencer's spawn. Edward is nowhere near as sure. Jason
interrupts the discussion and says the protesters are voicing legitimate
concerns. They all try to convince him it will be perfectly safe, but he
counters saying then why not build it near their home. Meanwhile, Ned sneaks
off to see Lois; soon, however, Katherine begins to wonder where he went.
Scene 11
Back at the gatehouse, it's once more into the breech for Cap'n Eddie.
Scene 12
As Katherine searches around for her missing spouse, Jason accuses them of
racial bias in the incinerator site selection. Katherine tries to make an
economic case, but in an impassioned speech [pretty good one at that for Jason]
he expresses outrage at their attitudes and behavior.
Scene 13
Audrey and Steve greet Justus and Simone and briefly discuss Simone and the ELQ
protest. After they leave, conveniently taking Tom Jr, Simone matter-of-factly
tells Justus that her husband is white and asks, "Do you have a problem with
that?"
Scene 14
Justus wants to know why she thinks he'd have a problem with her being married
to Mr. Mayonnaise. Meanwhile at the Hardy's table, Audrey tries to subtly pump
Tom Jr for information about his mother's friendship with Justus, but Steve
nixes her questions. Justus asks when Simone last saw Tom.
Scene 15
The Fattening Felicia continues to challenge Mac about solving the Katy Bell
case before him. He smiles smugly and after she leaves, calls Rhonda and says
he needs to get a message to Scott. [Cheat]
Scene 16
Simone suggests that she retrieve Tom Jr so S+A can eat their dinner, but
Justus says she just wants to stop him from asking questions. Simone assures
him that despite their physical separation, she is very much in love with, uh,
you know, that white guy, what's-his-name.
Scene 17
The Embryo Envelope continues to insist that the community will win out in the
end, but Luke is still basically pessimistic, but offers, jokingly, to blow the
place up.
Scene 18
As everyone heads for bed, Ned finally strolls in claiming he was out walking
Annabelle. However when Kate leaves the room, Lila says knowingly, "Don't tell
me Annabelle kept you out all this time." "How did you know?" Ned asked. "I
think the flowered panties on your head gave me a clue," Lila replied. [Ha, ha,
not really] Ned quickly makes up a new story that he ran into Lois who had
blown a circuit breaker, so he took care of it for her [I suppose that's one
way to put it]. Meanwhile, the ever suspicious Katherine lurks outside the
door listening to Ned's dubious story.
