''You owe me,'' Lulu said to Sonny as she stood before him. ''I saved your life, so you have to save my father from jail.''

''So how am I supposed to do that?''

''Anthony Zacharra is forcing me to hang around with Johnny, but that's a dead-end street for me.''

''You want Anthony or Johnny gone? Both?''

Lulu cringed. ''No, I'm not into murder or mayhem, no matter. I just want you to pretend to be interested in me so that they'll leave me alone.''

''This is a bad time, Lulu,'' Sonny argued. ''Michael, Carly, Kate...''

''It's going to be a bad time for my Dad,'' she shot back. ''I've lost my Mom, and I won't lose my Dad, no matter how much of a jerk he's been. You owe me, Sonny.''

It was bizarre, Sonny reflected in that instant, how much Lulu reminded him of Carly so many years ago. With a quick angry move, he pulled her into his arms and kissed her roughly. Can you handle that? We have to be able to convince everybody, Luke included. No slip-ups.”

Lulu glared back, pulled his mouth down to hers and returned the kiss. ''Just watch me!''
