I think I might have posted about finding the raccoon latrine near the house - piles of poop, too big for cats but too small for dogs (plus our yard is fenced so a dog couldn't get back there). I had to suit up with gloves and a mask and take care of it. But then I was lazy and didn't do the second part, which was pour boiling water or bleach over the area. It was empty for about a week, and then on Tuesday I found more piles. So suit up again, pick it up again, and then this time I dumped a lot of bleach on the area. Hopefully it keeps them away.
Three times now I've had the same raccoon come up on our back porch - once was when we were in Hawaii and I got notification from the camera back there, one time I was sitting on the deck with Gretchen and she suddenly jumped up and ran towards the steps and scared it off, and then again the other night it was back on the deck and I saw on the camera. Mr. Kris went and opened the slider and yelled at it and chased it away. Thankfully it's not getting in the house. I read somewhere to put ammonia soaked rags around the perimeter of the house so that's the next step. I don't want them getting in my garden.
