And I've definitely read books that I learned would be turned into a movie and I was thinking "please don't blow it!".
Hollywood thinks movies (especially horror ones) need that big climatic showdown, good vs. evil, hero saves the day, whatever. But a lot of books end on quieter notes. Like with "A Head Full Of Ghosts", it's just a character's devastating confession. It's why I think the movie will screw up and go for something ridiculous and over the top, not just a simple conversation that gut punches the reader.
