females were supposed to choose female saints. I'm not Catholic but the neighborhood I grew up in was almost entirely Catholic and my two best friends in college--one who remains my bestie to this day--were, and still are Catholic. Just when I thought I knew everything about the religion...

Bff's niece was born with, and still contends with, digestive issues, so she was allowed to choose St. Timothy as her Confirmation saint.
