I will not have to cook for veterans day as he will try to do to one of the various restaurants that have a free veteran's meal.
I wish Dad would do this but he never avails himself of any perks for veterans, nor does he ever draw attention to his service. I think it's because he was in the Marines for "only" three years and got out just as Vietnam was heating up. I know he feels somewhat guilty that a few of the guys he knew from basic training went to 'Nam and didn't return :-(
