to discuss many things. We were talking about how neither of us ever had a store bought costume; in her case, it was because she was the last of 7 kids, all born within a decade, and there was simply no money for store bought costumes and in my case, my folks were cheap <g>. Most years, we were clowns (with Mom's red lipstick on our nose), hobos (play clothes plus a little extra dirt), ghosts (self-explanatory) or "fancy ladies" (throw on one of Mom's best dresses and some of her sparkliest costume jewelry). I don't regret never having a store bought costume, and I really appreciate the creativity I've seen in some homemade costumes.

I saw a YouTube short that was possibly AI...it was a Halloween party at a retirement community and most of the residents were in costume. Many went with homemade costumes involving puns...my favorite was the guy who had a bunch of wrist watches attached to his belt. His costume: a "waste (waist) of time" 😂 Another gentleman had a clock face hanging around his neck...he was, of course, an "old timer". Another had put fake gold coins on the front of his shirt and claimed to be a "treasure chest". A woman wore a clean clay pot on top of her head...yep, she was a "pot head". And the last was a man who taped the letter "J" to his walker; he was, of course, a "jaywalker".
