father had a darker complexion than most of the family and high cheekbones. I've seen pictures of Grandpa when he was younger (he died shortly after I turned 1) and...nope, don't see it at all.

They thought they had Native blood too. Nope. But we did learn the Harwells are Viking/Norman which I think is so cool.

That IS cool! One of the genealogy websites informed me I'm, like, .2% Neandertal, which makes me more Neandertal than 74% of the population. Not sure if I'm proud of that <g>.

Mine has changed oh so significantly—-from 97.8% Ashkenazi to 98% 🤪🤪🤪

😂

Dad’s family history was all wrong. They thought they left the Levant after the fall of the second temple to go to Spain and then Germany. Nope. They came from Central Asia and went into France. Then Germany, then Poland. Likely Steppe people way back when.

That's pretty cool too!

Mom’s side followed the traditional Ashkenazi pattern though.

One of my favorite "reveals" from those I know who did either Ancestry or 23AndMe was courtesy of my bff's sister's husband. He's Slovenian, and the Slovenian community here in NE Ohio strongly encourage their children to marry a fellow Slovenian (proud of the BIL for marrying an Italian!). His test results came back and yep, 99.9% Slovenian. No other European nations, just Slovenia.
