with my sister over my nephew's eventual place of residence in NYC. To recap: the "kid" graduated from law school last year and the place in NYC (a major law firm whose name I never remember) where he interned before his last year at law school pretty much told him that the second he passed the bar exam for NY, they would hire him. But my nephew wanted to try to woo back his girlfriend who he broke up with a couple months after graduation; he felt she loved him more than he loved her, and he knew she didn't want to leave NC, so he called it quits but then missed her and decided to stay a while in NC and work on his relationship with her. Anyways, it didn't work out but the NYC law firm was cool with essentially "hiring" him while letting him work for a judge in NC for a year. Yeah, I don't quite get it either...

What I *do* get is Nephew signed a lease on a place in Brooklyn Heights and is moving in some time in November (and I assume beginning work properly for the NYC law firm). Sis texted me to say he's paying $3950/month, and I thought I read for a place with three bedrooms, so I texted back that seemed pretty reasonable for a place in Brooklyn Heights that came with three bedrooms and maybe he could find some roommates. She texted back no, that's $3950/month for three ROOMS, period. I'm not sure which rooms those are--kitchen, bathroom, bedroom? Kitchen, bathroom and large living room with a pullout bed? Kitchen, living room and bedroom with a toilet in the middle of it?--but I do know my country bumpkin jaw hit the floor at how much the "kid" will be paying in rent. But I guess lawyers can afford that kind of real estate <g>.
