Scratch that--she DID get her a job, but gcf is still considering.

A quick recap: bff works Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, plus when needed on Sundays, at a doggie daycare. She absolutely loves the job but she needs more income so she's looking around. She had a pretty promising interview with a hospice (bff was an RN for 30+ years and still keeps up her license, just in case) but she doesn't like the fact that she would be working 12 hour days Saturday and Sunday.

Good church friend is doing a variety of things to bring in money. The only constant: she sits with an elderly woman Thursday mornings. I jokingly (not to her face) call it "being paid to be an old person" because all gcf does is provide companionship, not any kind of care beyond occasionally making a light lunch for the lady before she leaves. She also occasionally watches her neighbor's elderly mom when the rest of the family go on vacation, and yet another neighbor occasionally pays her to drive somewhere. She used to dog-sit for her closest neighbor but the pup crossed the rainbow bridge recently 😢 Gcf knows she needs something else to do; she applied at a local place that hires older people to take care of other older people but after the interview, they never called her back. My guess is the local place needs people who are willing to bathe, dress and give meds to seniors and gcf refuses to do any of that (nor has she been trained to do any of that). She said she had enough of those things taking care of her father at the end of his life.

FF to a couple weeks ago...one of bff's co-workers was let go, much to bff's relief (she really was a terrible worker). Bff texted me to see if gcf would be interested in working Monday mornings and Wednesday mornings at the doggie day care. I said I'd ask and gcf responded with an enthusiastic "yes!". Gcf had a phone interview, then an in-person interview, and last week, she got a tour of the facilities. Why she didn't get the tour when she was doing the in-person interview, I don't know. She was asked to come in today for a "trial" shift (paid).

When today's trial shift was over, gcf texted me to say she LOVED the job. Some folks think working at a doggy daycare is all playing with puppies, and there IS a little of that, but mostly it's cleaning up pee and poo and sweeping up dog hair and taking dogs outside and bringing them back inside and making sure the dogs outside get along. Gcf said the owner will check with her at the end of this week/beginning of next week to see if gcf wants the job. Gcf said...she's praying on it.

Um, what? Now as a Christian, I am ALL FOR praying about important decisions but to me, this seems like a no-brainer. 12 guaranteed hours of work every week. A morning shift, so no being out late at night (gcf is up by 5:00 AM every day; her shift would start at 7:30 AM). The place is literally a couple miles from her house, so no long commute, which is important because gcf refuses to drive much beyond her town. She already knows, and likes, one of the people she'd be working with (bff). And most importantly, she said she "loved" her shift today. So really, what's there to think and pray about?

I'm hoping for both gcf's sake and bff's sake that gcf takes the job. I think it would be really good for gcf.
