I love that he wanted to be remembered more for the latter than the former, and I appreciate his wife selling off most of his memorabilia so their kids and grandkids can have some financial security. But I take a tiny bit of issue with this statement by Alicia Gwynn...
“I feel good about it,’’ Alicia said. “I feel good about fans wanting to still buy that stuff".
I honestly don't think it's the fans that are going to wind up with the items. I think most will go to greedy professional collectors who will jack up the prices even further and sell for a profit rather than keep the items to remember TG by.
