tech, AT ALL. About a month ago, my Google Pixel 6a went through a major update in which subtle (but mostly annoying) changes were made to how things were done and/or how things appear on my screen. Some are no big deal; I dislike the change mostly because I'm a grumpy old lady who hates change and believes if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Some are stupid and didn't improve things but I can live with it; for example, if I want to edit a picture on my phone, it's now a four step process where it was once a two step process. But one has really been annoying me: a change to how I answer my phone. When the phone is in use, there's a bar that appears at the top with a "decline" button and an "accept" button that you simply tap. That hasn't changed. But it used to be that when someone called when the phone wasn't in use, I'd get a green phone icon and the message "swipe up to answer" (with the "swipe down to decline" implied). That has now changed to a screen with a "decline" button on the left and an "answer" button on the right...and I always forget if I have to swipe towards "accept" or away from "accept" to answer.

So I did what we all do: I Googled "how to change my phone back to the usual way to answer". The first thing that came up was a video, made fairly recently...but for Samsung phones, not Google phones. I made it through the first few steps before hitting a step I didn't have (no three dots in the upper right on the screen I was on). But it DID get me to the point where I was in my phone setting, and after a few tries, I finally found the screen that told me how to set my phone to where I can just tap either "decline" or "accept". I then borrowed Dad's phone and called myself to make sure it reset and it works, and it did.

Dad has been highly amused by all this and alternates between bragging how easy it is to answer his flip phone (not that he gets a ton of calls <g>) and how in the goode olde dayes, "Ma Bell" had you simply pick up the receiver to answer. Yeah, yeah, old man...😁
