I respect that other people might like when tech "refreshes" itself, and even I can appreciate it when it's done in a way that makes things easier. But not too terribly long ago, my Pixel 6a suddenly and without me telling it to (I think) decided the old way of doing things wasn't cool anymore. So subtle changes were made. Sending a photo via text is now a little different. Editing photos is a little different (and in that case, a step was added, so definitely not streamlining the process). And just tonight, I figured out that simply answering the phone is a bit different. I don't get many phone calls that I actually want to answer, so I didn't even realize this changed. A few weeks ago, I mentioned calling to update my Medicaid info and getting a call back but being unable to answer. I assumed that was just a glitch...but tonight, Sis and BIL called to sing "happy birthday" to me and I almost missed it because now, instead of tapping either "accept" or "decline", I have to swipe right to decline or left to accept. Um...why? How does that make answering my phone easier? I've considered trying to go back to my older settings but I'm not even sure that's possible.

But I'm not completely anti-new tech...the Discount Drug Mart in town recently installed an Ohio BMV kiosk which I used Sunday to renew my plates. For years, I went to the BMV in town; I'm not the only one who's said we had the BEST BMV in NE Ohio. I've found out some people travelled from different counties to be waited on by the lovely, friendly and knowledgeable folks at our BMV. I'm also not the only one who's sad it's gone (don't know why it closed--it always seemed busy but maybe all the workers wanted to retire?). Last year, I went to a neighboring town's BMV...it was pretty much the opposite of my town's (former) BMV. Anyways, I debated renewing by mail this year but I accidentally waited too long (it's advised you mail in your payment several weeks before your birthday). I avoid doing online...well, anything that's important and isn't fun <g>. I was thinking of going to the county seat and patronizing their BMV but it's always super, super busy. The kiosk? Not particularly quick but very easy to use, AND unlike the BMV, the kiosk is "open" any time DDM is open, so I was able to get my new sticker Sunday afternoon. That's tech I can get behind <g>.
