The last time we kayaked was in 2017 or so, around Santa Cruz Island or Anacapa, one of the Channel Islands off the Ventura coast.
We did a kayaking tour, and going through a sea cave, LW tipped us over and cut his leg up on the rock. The channel islands (including Catalina by Long Beach and all those little islands just west of Orange, LA and Ventura counties) are volcanic in origin, hence sharp rock.
Anyhoo...it was actually hilarious. LW was fine, just needed some cleaning and bandaging.
