already enacted PFL for chosen family.

NYS has actually been a leader on PFL. They weren't the first state (that was CA), but they are one of the most generous states - 12 weeks of leave (we only have 8) and requires an employer contribution (we do not). They were also the first state to enact military exigency PFL for close family members who are tending to the things that need to be done prior to a family member's overseas deployment. We copied that LOL.

But yup, it's time.
