Today was countertop day! Three guys brought in the
long countertop for the cabinets next to the dryer and the one (2' X 2', I think) for the cabinet next to the refrigerator. They arrived about a half an hour early and did a great job...until it came time to install the sink in the space they'd cut on site for it.
One of them softly knocked on the door that leads to my kitchen and said that the sink had a dent or something in it, so it wasn't seating well. They were going to take it back to their store and return it. They called after they'd loaded it into the trailer with their equipment and left for the tile/granite store. They showed back up at my house a few minutes later to let me know that since the sink was mine, they had to return it to me so I could return it. They said they'd install it when I got the replacement. So, it was sitting in the floor of my kitchen. I plan to return it to store, even though I ordered it online, on Thursday.
Later, I got a voice mail saying that they'd made the cut and everything and would not install the sink. I'd planned to have my plumber install it and install the garbage disposal. There may be an issue with the disposal. It's...unique.
Anyway, I'm glad that I hadn't asked the plumber to come today to work on the installation and that this whole sink problem was discovered on the day of the original installation. The countertops were supposed to be installed some time in August, probably mid-August, but the deadline to return the sink was 29 July. It pays to be Irish!
The counters look great. They're going to be fabulous!
