being right next to the water (river, canals, levee)? I’m thinking about climate change, flooding, cost of or availability of home insurance, etc. Being right next to the water (lake, river, ocean, gulf) has become a real liability in FL due to climate change and extreme weather.
I live near the water in NYC. Harbor on one side and the narrows between the harbor and Atlantic Ocean on the other side. But I’m a couple blocks in from the waterfront and high up on a ridge overlooking the water. It’s a steep walk down to the park right next to the water. That water has risen at times high enough to flood the Belt Parkway. Good thing there are no homes that close. Other NYC neighborhoods where people do live right on the water got devastated during Superstorm Sandy.
