Kodos to your Dad, for serving his country. I can't believe that US will be turning 250 next year.
Dad doesn't talk about his service much because he was in for "only" three years and got out before Vietnam heated up. Unlike military men who don't want to talk about the horrors they saw in combat, Dad doesn't want to talk about NOT seeing the horrors of combat. He said he doesn't always fee like a "true" vet because he wasn't in the service for long, and he spent much of that time in San Diego repairing radios.
My great uncle was a US WWII Vet, he fought in the South Pacific. And being Canadian. I have many great uncles that served in WWII Canadian armyy.
Bless them for their service. I have a great uncle on Dad's side that fought in WWII, and four of my maternal grandmother's brothers were also in service and were guards at the Nuremburg trials. Plus Grandma (Mom's mom) was a "Rosie the Riveter", though nobody, including my mom, could quite remember which military factory she worked in during WWII.
